Biography of Marco
Art should balance you, it should be able to enlighten you,
inspire its beholder, and ultimately transcend time and space,
so that it may leave an everlasting impression. ~ Marco
Marco was born as, Marco Antonio Calderon, in the US/ Mexico border town of Calexico, Ca, on July 25th, 1965. Marco began exploring art and drawing at the young age of 5 years old. By the time Marco was 10 years old, he began mixing colors and painting on canvas.
His parents observing his talent and interest in art, enrolled him in different art classes in both Mexico and United States. Later, his parents enrolled him in La Escuela de Bellas Artes, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. At this academy, he developed and refined his painting techiniques. While still attending high school, Marco began an apprenticeship in Mexico, under the direction of Fidelfa Marchesini, a fine arts instructor. On the other side of the border, he followed instruction of Roberta Holt. He participated in many local art contest, winning some of the most precious prizes. Marco's talent and abilities to express realistic concepts were evidence, of the markings of a successful painter.
He then applied to the worldly renowned Otis-Parsons in Los Angeles, California. After being accepted, he majored in Fine Arts. At Otis-Parsons he experimented with different mediums in fune arts and spent 3 years in Los Angeles. However, after some medical conditions, Marco was forced to suspend his course studies at Otis-Parsons. After fully recovering, he moved to San Diego, California. Still seeking to pursue a career in art, he enrolled in the Advertising Arts College, an advertisting arts institution. Even though this field was not with a fine arts focus, he aquired tools to express thought provoking ideas, with his alluring realistic tones. He graduated from A.A.C. with a Applied Associate degree.
However, Marco still yearned to paint with fine art qualities, and not so much commerical art. He desired to start concentrate more in painting with oils and acrylics. He began exploring new ideas to focus on his personal style. He moved back to Mexicali, Mexico, to familiar grounds, to dedicate more time and effort to his own style.
