Vampyre Awakening, inspired by Anne Rice

Vampyre Awakening

Special Thanks to Anne Rice for inspiring this piece

The sun sets
And my senses awaken
I become alert to the night
It's sweetness

Inhaling the cold, scented air
Feeling it fill my cells
Then that familiar ache
The hunger

Craving the richness of life
That sweet nectar of the Immortals
I almost feel it fill my wanting mouth
The fire

Becoming acutely aware of my surroundings
The familiar scents and noises of my place
This sanctuary I call my own
I move back the lid...

The heat of the torches pervades the damp
Their light dispelling all shadows
Save the one that IS me
That hunger

I cannot wait for my children this time
The pain is insufferable
The craving, the need
To feed

My ears hear my children stirring
Though they are near and far
They are kindred
To me

To the city in a heartbeat
The place where it all happens
I spy a morsel
Shall I?

I stride over casually
"A tasty morsel, at that," I think
I lock his eyes, and smile
He is mine

I hold out my hand...he takes it
Back to my home again
Into the bedchamber
Playtime

I undress him...he undresses me
We collapse to the sheets
Passion and purpose mingle within me
"Do you want to live forever?"

I bend over him and lick my lips
I nibble his delicate earloes and throat
I hear his moan of ecstasy
From afar

Unable to hold back
I bury my fangs into his tender neck
Ahhh, the sweetness, and richness
The pleasure

The warmth as it passes into me
Bringing to life all it touches
Filling me with passion, and pleasure
The nectar

I am alive! I feel the flush in my cheeks
The heat of the very essence of life
And the very soul of my lover
Life!!

I pull away, fangs dripping, mouth open, and trembling
My eyes aflame, I lick my lips
My lover looks up at me
"Sleep, sweet mortal..."

My children's pleasure is evidenced
I hear it in my being
Who will be my next lover
By candlelight?
