Look Elsehwere
By: Prince Trystan
We met across a crowded room
Our eyes locked and there was magic
We take time to get to know each other
But there are still questions:
What can I give you?
Where shall we go from here?
How can I help you be happy?
Who are you really?
Never getting deeper than the surface
Saying things we think the other wants to hear
Never revealing the core of our feelings
Not caring to dig that deep
I cannot give you what you want
I can't turn my feelings on and off
They take time to build and grow
I can't just jump into things with abandon
It takes time we do not have
Time you cannot afford
The foundation can be laid
But the closeness you desire cannot be given
The feelings you have so intense
Are the mark of infatuation
Instead of true desire
Signalling more pain in time
When the desire wanes
And the feelings are no longer as intense
The "love" disappears causing you to think
You can find something better
I watch you trying to fill the void
Wondering why I invested so much
Wondering if I can recover
The pieces of myself I've lost
"Its been fun while it lasted"
You say with a smile
My heart is the one that suffers
My spirit, the one that dims
All these things making me wonder
Should I try again?
Do I want more pain?
Is this all there is to love?
No, I answer, there is more
I try, once again, to find love
Love that lasts forever
And doesn't fade
Its out there, I'm sure
I just have to find it
And guard against the lusts
That present themselves for my notice
You'll have to look elsewhere
For what you desire....
Just like me.
