There is a full glass headlight or a blackout cover version both moulded in clear styrene. The kit instructions specify the use of the blackout type. The clear sprue also contains all the window panes. These are quite clear but may be overly thick for some people's tastes. There are three types of wheel supplied with the kit. The main sprue carries two sets of conventional wheels both with and without hub caps. A secondary sprue contains balloon type sand tyres and the fittings for an Afrika Korps vehicle. These sand tyres are not the same as is depicted on the box art which are beefy off road tyres with a prominent tread pattern. The only photo I have found actually shows these off road tyres fitted to the vehicle. There is no provision to fit an engine to the kit. The engine hood cover is moulded solid with the body shell. The more adventurous may consider opening this up and trying to insert Tamiya's Kubelwagen engine. The 2 doors are moulded integrally with the body shell. They would be tricky to open up without damaging either the doors or their surrounds. An extravagant solution would be to use 2 kits and take the doors from one kit and open up the door frame in another. Perhaps there is an opportunity for some kind after market manufacturer to provide a pair in resin. | |
