Child of Light, Child of Dark Chapter Three Sari was behind the hotel lying on a towel by a large pool. She wore short cut off shorts, zipped open and her bottom bathing suit showed. A black bikini top was worn on her chest, and her sunglasses were on. ‘Gee, this place is boring!’ She thought and faced the sun. ‘Nothing to do, about two months gone by and Seiko hasn’t said anything about the park incident. Does he think I’m going to wait for him forever? Dang!’ She yarned. ‘Why am I so sleepy? It’s only four in the afternoon.’ She yarned again. “Oh well, the sleep won’t kill me.” She closed her eyes. “Don’t other wise I’ll push you in.” A teasing voice was heard with snickering in the back. Sari opens her eyes; startled she looked at chocolate-brown eyes. “Takiru!” “What about us?” Tenshi asked as she stepped forward with Matsao. They were wearing their bathing suits. “Guys! What are you doing here?” Sari sat up. “Just came to swim that’s all. We saw you so we came.” Matsao explained. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Inside the gang minus Seiko was talking in Sumino’s room. “He still has no clue. How long are we going to have to wait?” Amika asked as she stood by the window-watching Sari and her friends. “We’ll just have to be patient.” Tatsuya replied. “Well we’ve been waiting for two years now.” Aya looked at him with a frown. She was sitting by Yuuho. “I can’t see how you can be so calm and patient over this.” “What else is there to do?” He shrugged. “Look we have to find away to get him to awaken before our enemy does.” Sumino spoke firmly. All trace of amusement gone from his face. “How are we supposed to do that genius? We don’t even know who the Child of Dark is.” Yuuho rolled his eyes. The door opened and everyone turned to see Seiko. “Sorry I didn’t knock.” He said sheepishly. “But um…have any of you seen Sari her mother’s on the phone.” “At the pool.” Amika simply said as she pointed at the window behind her. “Thanks.” As soon as he left Aya let out a breath that she didn’t know she held. “That was a close one.” She whispered. “Why don’t we just tell him?” Tatsuya suggested. “No!!!” Came from everyone in the room. “Gee, it was just a suggestion.” He said as he stepped back a little. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* “Sari!” Seiko called as he stepped out of the hotel where the pool was. He stopped in his tracks when he saw Sari talking to another guy by the pool. He watched as the guy tucked her hair behind her ear and said something to make her laugh. Angry he walked over there and stopped right in front of them. Sari stopped laughing and smiled at him. “Hey…” Her smile disappeared when he didn’t smile back but only a cold stare was giving back. “What’s wrong?” “Your mother’s on the phone.” He handed her the phone that he had kept in his tight grasp. Without another word he left. “Who was that? He didn’t look too happy.” Takiru acknowledged. “Hold on…Mother.” She said on the phone. “I’m fine…yeah…you are? For how long?” “For as long as I need Honey. I’ll see you soon.” She dropped the phone. “Alright!” Sari said happily. “She’s coming.” “Who’s coming? Who was that guy?” Takiru asked as his friends came out of the pool and towards them. “What’s going on?” Tenshi asked. “Okay, My mother’s coming here from Toyama City and for your question Taki that was Seiko.” She answered the questions in one sentence. “Taki?” Matsao and Tenshi repeated with sly smiles. “She somehow shortened my name to that. But I don’t mind though.” Takiru shrugged. “Don’t start you guys!” Sari warned. A playful grin was set on her lips. “I think the two of you should hook up, really. You’d make the perfect couple.” “Hell no!” “Don’t even go there.” Were the replies from both of them. Sari and Takiru laughed at their friends. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* At an airport a middle age man with short blonde hair and blue eyes stood by his car. Hana walked over to him with a smile and a luggage in her hand. “Sukio.” She whispered. Sukio smiled at her as he reached for her bag. “Hana, it’s good to see you again.” “What no hug for an old friend?” She teased. “Who’s the friend?” He asked with humor in his eyes. “Very funny!” She said sarcastically and Sukio laughed. He hugged her and went to the trunk of his car. “We still act like children.” “That’s because we still are.” Hana said. “Well not humanly speaking.” “True true” He opened the door for her. “Come on, let’s go back to my place. We have a lot to discuss.” “I’m afraid we do.” *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Sari walked in the apartment while drying her hair with a towel. She found Seiko lying on the couch staring at the wall. She frowned a bit. “Seiko…what are you doing?” “What does it look like?” Was all he said. “Staring at the ceiling like a dumb ass.” Sumino and the gang decided to end there meeting and he open the door but stopped when he heard Seiko and Sari talking. “Sumi what are you doing?” Amika asked. “Hush and listen.” “No stupid.” Seiko said as he stood up. “I was thinking.” He watched as she sat down in a one-man’s chair. “I think we should break the engagement.” Silence reigned over the room as both of them looked at each other. One determined and one confused. “What is he doing?” Aya asked in a whisper. “Can he even do that?” Yuuho asked. “What? Why?” Sari asked confused. She was hurt and she would not show it. She didn’t want him to know she was hurting. ‘Why would he think of something like this. I thought he…’ “Something feels weird.” He whispered. “Just trust me on this one ok?” “Trust?” She whispered. “Trust!!!” Sari shot up from her chair hair still dripping wet. “Why should I trust you after you just broke…” She bite her lips so she would stop herself from saying ‘my heart.’ Glaring at him big time, she spoke in a calm yet low voice. “I’m not even going to ask why or what you were thinking. Have it your way.” “Sari…” He stepped closer to her. “Don’t touch me or talk to me. When my mother comes I’m going with her and you won’t see me again.” She walked towards her room as she did tears of anger and pain streamed down her cheeks. “Sari wait!” He called after her but she slammed the door shut. “It’s not you.” He whispered. He cried out of Frustration as he walked out of the apartment. “Things are not making sense!” Sumino and the others came out of the room they noticed the door open and they could hear Sari cries faintly. “What was he thinking?” Tatsuya asked. “I’ll go to Sari while you guys go try and talk some sense into stupid.” Before anyone could say anything Tatsuya was already in Sari’s room. “Come on lets go.” Yuuho ordered. “I’ll track him down.” They left. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* “Do you guys feel that?” Tenshi asked as she looked at Matsao and Takiru. “Our mistress is hurting. Her soul is calling out to us.” Matsao answered. “But where is she?” Takiru whispered as he kept driving. Their bodies shimmer and they were no longer the fourteen year old but older by three years. “We’ll find her…we have too.” Tenshi whispered as she looked out her window. ‘Child of Dark.’ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Sari looked up when she heard the door open. She wiped her tease when she saw Tatsuya. “Suya…” She whispered his nickname she had gave him. “Anything wrong?” “Isn’t that my line, Saya?” He sat on her bed that she had been sleeping in for two months and a half. “Why the tears? I’ve never seen you cry.” Sari sighed as she sat up straight. “I…I don’t know what to do?” She whispered. “You know Seiko is the most confusing person I have ever met.” Tatsuya chuckled. “I know what you mean.” “Yeah well…” She looked down at her hands. “At first I thought being in this situation where I get married to someone I don’t even know was the most terrible thing I could ever think of.” “But…” “It’s not so bad, now.” She looked at him with a slight smile. “I got to know you and the others really well…then…there’s Seiko…who I don’t really understand.” She frowned at the last statement. “I don’t know what to think of him. He is so unpredictable. Always changing every minute. Pulling stunts that scare me half to death, teasing even mocking!!! Not to mention flirting!!! Then he turns serious and pretends nothing happened, angry for no apparent reason, and now BREAKS the engagement, he could have done that two and a half months ago when I wasn’t in love with him!!!!” She screamed in anger. She was now pacing the floor. She immediately stopped when she realized what she had just confessed. It was true she was in love with him she just now realized it. She looked at Tatsuya helplessly. “I…I…” “Shh…it’s ok.” He whispered as he took her in his arms. “Why is he doing this to me?” Sari broke down crying. “I thought he loved me too.” “The idiot probably does he just doesn’t know how to say it or show it.” Tatsuya whispered into her hair as he rubbed her bare back to comfort her. “It’ll be ok Saya, stop crying.” Still in his arms she whispered as if she was still a four-year-old child, “Will you buy me an ice-cream cone?” Tatsuya looked down at her for a while before he laughed. “You may act like a 17 year-old but you’re still a kid. Get dressed and I’ll take you to an ice cream store.” He lets go of her and wiped her tears as she nodded. He left and she began pulling her swimsuit off. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* “Hey! Seiko wait up!” Sumino yelled as he saw his friend. He and the others ran after him. ‘Great.’ Seiko thought sarcastically. He stopped walking not even bothering to turn to face them. “What is it?” He asked not to nicely. “Whoa, if you’re going to have an attitude then we’re leaving. We only came to see if you were alright since you left in such a hurry and not to mention you broke the engagement and left Sari confused and crying.” Yuuho sternly spoke. “And another thing,” Seiko turned to him. “What the HELL were you thinking?” Seiko began to walk but the others followed. “Seiko.” Aya’s sweet soft voice called him with worry. She placed her hand on his arm as she walked by his side. “What are you thinking?” Unlike Yuuho Aya is the complete opposite of him. It took Seiko a while before answering. “I don’t know. Something just feel’s weird.” “Like what?” Amika asked as she walked on the other side of him. “It’s not Sari…it’s me actually.” He paused. “It feels like my body is changing.” At that the others looked at each other and smiled. ‘He’s awakening.’ They all thought to each other. “It’s probably nothing.” “You’re probably right, Sumino.” “But that doesn’t explain why you broke the engagement. I thought you guys liked each other?” Yuuho thought after he cooled off. “I didn’t mean to say it. It just came out.” Seiko sighed as he ran his hand into his almost black hair. “At the pool she was talking to her friend or something.” “You mean Takiru?” Aya asked “Yeah, well, she seems really happy with him and her feelings for me are not to clear. I wanted to see what she would do if the engagement was broken and she was free to go to anyone she wants.” “Oh I get it.” Amika said. “Good so you can clear it up for me because I don’t.” Sumino said “Stupid.” Aya mumbled “Sari can only stay with one person because of the engagement. Seiko broke the engagement to see if she truly loves him.” “What?” Sumino asked. Then it hit him. “Ohhh…you _idiot_!!!” He yelled at Seiko. “Can’t you see it?” “See what?” “The girl really likes you! Why else will she be upset and crying over it?” Seiko stopped walking and looked at Sumino. “I want to see it myself. I don’t want to force anyone in marrying me.” “That’s all sweet and all but it’s not like you have a choice.” Yuuho said. “Your fathers arranged it, you can’t break it off even if you wanted too.” “He has a point.” Amika agreed. “Then let her think it is and we’ll see what happens.” Seiko said. “That’s cruel man.” “It’s not like I want to hurt her or anything. I have to know.” “Alright, we won’t say anything, but if things go too far we’re spilling everything.” Sumino seriously said. “Deal.” *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* “Sukio.” Hana whispered. “I know, his starting to wake up.”
