Sailor Moon Millenium - The Rise of the Stellar Scouts Chapter # 16 - Fencing Tournament : Kurai-ki Fails - Created July 10th, 2000 By K.W. Isenor (sailor_sun_@hotmail.com) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- X Day of the Fencing Tournament (Saturday) Jessica paced around her room nervous, she was biting her lower lip like she always did when she was feeling a bit nervous. There was a knock at her door, Jessica quickly stopped pacing and turned towards her bedroom door. "Come in." She said in a not to calm voice, it was quivering and it wasn't too hard to tell that she had butterflies in her stomach. Kevin, Alissa and Eclipse all peeked their heads around the door, all with smiles on their faces. "Come on Jessica we have to stop by Jennifer's to pick her and Nova up then we have to go right to see Lou, he said that you can not be any later then eight on Saturday morning." Kevin said as he opened the door more. "I know, I know." Jessica replied as she sat down on her bed, she clasped her hands together and sat up straight. "Can you tell I'm nervous?" She questioned as she looked at each of her friends in turn. "Do you come from the Sun?" Alissa jokingly asked. "You look so nervous, and if you keep biting on your lip you might be left without one!" Alissa continued on. "Really?" Jessica said as she stood up, she grabbed the large spot bag that lay on the bed, she slung the straps over her shoulders. "Well no matter, lets be off." "Ah Jessica." Kevin said as he looked down at the sports bag. "Yeah?" She asked turning to face the handsome blonde haired man. "You might want to fill your bag with your equipment!" Kevin said as he opened the empty bag, Jessica looked into it and blushed hard. She quickly ran over to her closet and pulled a bunch of clothing out onto the floor, she opened the sports bag and began to pile stuff in, and as she did she said the article of clothing out loud, just to make sure that she had everything. "Jacket, pants, underarm protectors, socks." She said as she piled in pieces of the white uniform. "Mask." She said as she put the white mask with the mesh front into the large blue bag. "Bib," She pilled in the throat protector. "Shoes, gloves, inserts, my lame and amour." Jessica finished piling everything in. "Now we have to go pick up the saber." The red head said still feeling very nervous. Jessica turned to Eclipse, the big dog looked up at her with his love filled eyes. "You will do fine, and besides you have had more practice then any of them!" Eclipse said reassuringly. Jessica smiled and nodded. "Your right! I'm going to kick some butt!" Jessica said, her voice wasn't quivering anymore. "After all I am the Sailor Scout of the Sun! Nothing will stop me from winning this fencing tournament!" Jessica, Kevin, Alissa and Kevin made their way down stairs and out to the car, but not before Mr. And Mrs. Walker gave their kisses and hugs along with Jon and Hannah's "go get em attitude". * * * * * "Excuse me Emperor Valico." The beast voice came from the shadows, the clocked demon turned around and looked down the dark passageway. HE spotted the beast coming closer. "You really know how to sneak up in someone don't you?" The Emperor asked as he turned back to the various demons working on the Star Pendulum. The base had been built, it was circular, and it was about ten feet either way. Then in the circle, there was a large star pattern, above each of the points there was a symbol, there were six points in all. "Yes anyway, the creation of the Star Pendulum is going rather quickly, not much to be done now." The beast remarked as her looked out upon the large circular surface. "Much quicker then I thought, even if I did have to get them motivated by killing off a couple, but no the less everything is going ahead of schedule. So once this is complete we will only need the six Heart Stones." The Emperor explained as he walked around the Star Pendulum. He kicked a small slacking dark yellow demon as he walked by. "Yes but can we rely on Kurai-ki to get us the Heart Stones, he may have almost all of the Heart Stones to make his little plan work out, but he still have to get the six Heart Stones." The beast followed behind the Emperor, when he would walk by one of the demons they would get the chills and begin to work faster. "I believe we now can rest at ease, Kurai-ki has told me that he knows who four of the carriers are, so now he jus has to put this city to sleep and we will be able to have the six Heart Stones all with due time." The Emperor stopped and looked down at the different symbols. "Are you really that confidant in Kurai-ki?" The beast questioned, the Emperor shrugged his shoulders. "I would not be so confident in that born failure, he always manages to mess everything up. I still say that we should call forth . . ." The Emperor cut the beast short. For he too feared the name, not as much as Kurai-ki but close to it. "No, I don't think we should rush ahead yet, give Kurai-ki a little more time and once the time is right we can call him forth. But no need to yet, for Kurai-ki hasn't failed." "Yet, Kurai-ki hasn't failed yet. That is one thing that you can be confident about, is that he will fail." The beast remarked. "Well we don't know if he will, or will not fail yet." With those words the Emperor turned and walked down one of the dark tunnels. The beast shook his head, he looked towards the workers. Once they saw him looking at them they immediately went back to their work. The beast enraged turned to the closest demon picked him up in his teeth and threw him down below into the water below, a loud splash was heard. "Now let that be a lesson to all of you! Now back to work!" The beast yelled at the demons that all cowered in fear. The beast turned from the cowering demons and walked down another tunnels into the darkness, as he vanished from eyesight in the darkness he mumbled to himself about how the plan wasn't working. * * * * * "Alright Jessica, you run in there and get your fencing gear and we will be off!" Kevin said through the open window of the small green car. Jessica nodded and quickly ran up the stairs and in through the door. When she entered the room she was greeted with the sound of clashing sabers. There in the center of the room, Lou and someone else were practicing with the sabers, both were dressed in their full fencing uniforms. Lou turned to face Jessica. "Good, now go and get your stuff together, you have to be at the Sports Center by nine o'clock, it is about a thirty minute drive from here." He took off his mask and smiled at Jessica. "Do you know how to get there?" Jessica nodded her head, she turned to the other person in the fencing uniform, they took of their hood and Jessica's mouth almost dropped to the floor, it was Jason! "Yes Jessica, even I can fence, even though you would rather not have me on your team we have no choice. Oh and if we win how about I treat you out to a ice cream." Jason offered. Jessica rolled her eyes and shook her head 'no'. "I'd rather go out and celebrate with my friends." Jessica said as she walked over to the rack that held all of the saber's, she picked the one that she always did. The one with the yellow tape. "Well we are off Master Lou, where can we meet you at?" Jessica asked as she made her way towards the door with the saber in her hand, she had slid it into a special carrying container. "I will find you during the welcoming at ten o'clock." Lou said as he walked over to the bench and slid off his gloves and shoes. "Jason and myself will be leaving soon." Lou said as he took off his lame. "Alright, see you then!" Jessica said friendly as she walked out the door and down the stairs, she quickly climbed into the front seat beside Eclipse and Kevin, piled in the back was Alissa, Jennifer and Nova. "And we are off!" Kevin said as he started up the car, Jessica quickly slid her seat belt on and set the saber across her lap being careful not to poke Eclipse with it, even if it was in the protective container she didn't want to go around stabbing people with it. * * * * * Ten o'clock rolled around, Jessica and the others all found a seat in the large open parking lot, up at the front was a small stage, which was set up. A short man stood there with a microphone in his hand, he was waiting for everyone to be seated. "Welcome! The Nova Scotia Fencing Association welcome fencers, families, and friends from all over metro area to this to this wonderful fencing tournament, for an exciting weekend of Metro competition. We will make every effort for this to be a rewarding experience for all. We will use the front desk to inform visitors of local activities before and during the tournament, and to provide those back home updated if unofficial results each day of the events you can give them our webpage address!" The man's voice called out over the microphone, people in the audience clapped their hands in agreement. A couple people whistled. "The Metro tournament will be held at the Dartmouth Sport Center, which stands just behind me. Being located in the heart of downtown, you can easily get to different places such as malls or stores. Food is available at two cafes which have recently opened up in the Sport Center." More cheering people. "Now each team, there are eight in total, each representing a school or county, each have their own room assigned to them. So please just head down this path to the right of me and you should easily be able to find the doors which are marked with the instructor's name." More cheers, a few conversations broke out here and there. "Now everyone of the young men and woman who will be fencing have until ten thirty to be out in the main gym, there are plenty of signs, so just follow them. At ten forty five the games will begin!" Everyone cheered and clapped. Jessica got up and looked around for Lou, she didn't find him anywhere. "Well let's try going to your assigned room and maybe he will be there." Kevin suggested. Jessica nodded and slung the large now very heavy sport bag over her shoulder. They walked off to the right like the man said to try to find which room was theirs. One of the first doors that them came across said Master Lou on it. Jessica knocked and entered. There sitting on the bench was Jason already suiting up. "Guys why don't you go find a seat and I'll be out there soon!" Jessica said as she smiled and nodded to her friends, they nodded back and made their way down the crowed hall. Jessica closed the door and walked over to the bench and sat beside Jason, swinging the large blue bag to the floor she began to haul everything out. "Are you nervous?" Jason asked as he looked down at Jessica as she piled everything onto the floor. "Yeah, you could say that. I'm not really sure how everything works!" Jessica said as she took off her coat and walked over to the small change room with her pants and jacket in hand. She came out wearing the white uniform. "Don't worry, just leave all the worrying up to the judges and score keepers." Jason said while he pulled on his underarm protectors. Jessica went and sat back down. Sliding on her socks, shoes, she set her mask beside her along with her throat protector. She finished getting on the uniform all except the mask and throat protector. The red head walked over to the mirror and took down her hair, she quickly ran a brush through her past knee length hair. She took an elastic and put her hair up into a small bun, she tucked any little lose pieces behind her ear. "Alright I'm ready." Jessica said as she took a deep breath and picked up her mask and held it in her arm along with the throat protector, in the other hand she held her saber. * * * * * "Alright fencers get in your En garde positions!" The announcer's voice called out over the PA system. Jessica and a black haired girl got into their positions ready for the signal. The two fencers put on their masks ready for the combat. "And assault!" His voice called. The black haired girl made the first move, she lunged towards Jessica, and dodging to the side she moved out of the way. Jessica did a counter attack and the two sabers clashed together. Jessica tried a broken-time action, fooling her opponent and managed to get a swing at the black haired girl's back. She spun around and lunged again, she was forced to step back because she didn't have enough balance to carry out the motion. Jessica did a cross forward and the clinging metallic noise was heard yet again, people cheered in the audience. Jessica felt the light tapping of her opponent's saber at her arm. Jessica did a couple of swings, left, left, and right, left, right. Get closer each time, she did a final swing at her opponents saber and managed to knock it out of her hand. Jessica moved her saber to her opponent's throat and held it there, the whistle was blown and Jessica had won. She walked over to the bench where Jason and Lou sat, they both patted her on the back and gave their congratulations. 'Only six more to go.' Jessica thought as she took a big drink of water from the bottle, which Lou handed to her. Jessica turned out into the crowd to see her friends waving to her. "Now we sit here and wait for the three other matches to go and wait for opponents to be eliminated." Jessica turned to Lou. "You mean this is a elimination match! Then that means if I only have to fight one more person and I can be in the first - second position!" Jessica said excited, two more matches were a lot better then going up against six other people! "Yeah this is an elimination match, so if you are right not in the third - forth position, and if you do a good match like that one you just did you can make it to first place in the woman's competition!" Lou patted Jessica on the back, she had a big smile on her face and sat there watching another match. * * * * * "And that concludes the matches for today! Tomorrow we will be holding the semi finals bright and early, then after lunch the finals will be held!" The announcer's voice called out over the PA. "Well Jessica and Jason, why don't you to go home, you can leave your fencing gear in the room, but make sure you clean your lames in lukewarm water!" Lou reminded the two new fencers. "You both did well today! Be ready for the semi-finals in the morning and the finals!" Lou said his voice full of reassurance. "Do you really think I'll make it to the finals?" Jessica asked, Lou nodded his head and walked off down the busy hall. Jessica turned to Jason. "See ya tomorrow!" She said as she disappeared into the crowd, she meet up with Kevin and the others in front of the car. "Congrads Jessica! You are going to make it all the way up to the finals!" Kevin said as he hugged Jessica tightly. "Now lets go get an ice cream!" Everyone agreed with the suggestion, neither one of them would give up the opportunity of getting an ice cream. * * * * * Jessica and Jason both beat their opponents and were in the place for either second or first depending on how their next match would go. Lou took them back to their changing room and told them about the opponents that they would be going up against next. "Now Jessica you have to watch out for Laura, she has been in this a lot longer then you have, so be sure to stay on guard at all times, and do not forget anything that I have ever told you! It is going to get you first place if you can just do everything as well as you did training on Friday night! You can win this!" Lou said as he took a drink of his ice tea. Jessica sat there going over everything in her head, not even paying attention to what Lou was saying to Jason. She sat there and tapped her fingers on her knee. Lou pulling on her shoulder snapped her out of the dream. "Come on it's time to go! You have to get everything ready, then after that you can go off for about half an hour to lunch, but make sure that you get back in that room and suited up at one thirty!" Jessica looked down at her watch and she was shocked, she had sat there tapping her knee for the past twenty minutes. She jumped up said her good-byes and ran out to the car where all of her friends and even parents were waiting. "Alright you kids go out for lunch and we will see you after the match!" Mrs. Walker said as she walked over to her daughter and kissed her on the head. "You are doing really good honey!" She said as she walked away with Mr. Walker, Jon and Hannah. Jessica, Kevin, Alissa, Jennifer and the two dogs walked across the street to get lunch at the small restaurant, they sat at outside tables, so Eclipse and Nova didn't have to be tied up while they ate inside. Everyone ate and enjoyed the lunch, Jessica looked down at her watch she still had fifteen minutes. She smiled and leaned her head on Kevin's shoulder. He put his arm up around her. Abruptly screams filled their ears. They all turned towards the Sports Center. "Kurai-ki!" They all said at once. She left the money for their meal on the table and ran over into the alley behind a large dumpster. They all began to call out their transformation phrases. "SOLARIS STAR . . . . . POWER!" Jessica then closed her eyes. The Solaris Medallion disappeared into many little orange and gold sparkles; this caused her body to shimmer the colors of the sparkles as they fell onto her body. Then her silver tiara appeared with the red jewel in the center. The jewel then emitted a blinding flash of orange light that surrounded Jessica giving her the feeling of the bright morning sun on her body. Then a swirl of orange and gold sparkles warped around her body moving upward as it spun around her body. The body suit of her uniform then appeared. And the bows came out of the heart in the center of her chest. Sparkling golden rings then went around her feet forming boots. Then more sparkling rings went around her arms forming her gloves. Soon afterward the golden sparkles went around her waist forming her skirt. At that point there was a large burst of golden sparkles that flew up into the air, when the sparkles fell to the ground Sailor Sun was then revealed fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. She stood there with one hand across her forehead and the other across her stomach with her legs together. Her long red hair then blew to the side. "DAYSTAR COSMIC . . . . . POWER!" The mist wrapped around counter clockwise around his body covering him from the eye. When the mist faded away Kevin was only a shadow. Then was an explosion above his head and small glittering yellow and maroon sparkles fell over his shoulders and his long cape appeared around his shoulders. Then with a bright flash of golden light his armor appeared. Then he held his right arm to the sky and opened his eyes. Once his eyes were open a large powerful silver sword appeared in his hand, he then slid the saber into it's proper spot on his belt. "POLLUX STAR . . . . . POWER!" Alissa shouted out the phrase as she held her transformation item above her head. Alissa then closed her eyes then her transformation wand disappeared. Her hair was then lifted off of her shoulders. I strong gust picked up and swirled around her. Then her silver tiara appeared with the white jewel in the center. The jewel them emitted a blinding flash of gray light that surrounded Alissa giving her the feel of a warm spring breeze blowing through her hair and across her face. Then the swirling air divided into rings and two rings went around her body moving upward as it spun around her body. The body suit of her uniform then appeared. And the bow came out of the heart in the center of her chest. Gray rings of air went around her feet forming boots. Then more gray rings went around her arms forming her gloves. Soon afterward the gray air went around her waist forming her skirt. At that point the wind picked up greatly, her hair was blowing wildly. From above a tornado came down and circled around Alissa blocking her from view. When the tornado died down and her hair slowly dropped back resting on her shoulders. Sailor Pollux was reveled fully transformed. She did her t ransformation pose. Her pose was her standing with both of her hands on her cheeks, looking very innocent and harmless. Her head was tilted a little bit to the side. Her legs were apart, one was a little ahead then the other. "CAPELLA STAR . . . . . POWER! The girl shouted out these words as she held her transformation medallion above her head. She then closed her eyes then her transformation medallion disappeared. Her hair was then lifted off of her back. Then her silver tiara appeared with the green jewel in the center. The jewel them emitted a blinding flash of green light that surrounded the girl giving her the feel of leaves brushing across her face and around her body. Then from the ground vines formed at the bottom of her feet. The vines then slowly moved up her body. Her legs were then covered from view. The vines continued to move up her body, her waist was then hidden, the vines continued to move up and they covered her upper body then they moved down her arms. Then there was a large burst of green light and the vines started to move away from her body slowly moving down. The vines revealed her gloves then her body suit was formed. Next came her skirt and the vines completely disappeared and her boots were reviled. The heart in the center of her chest was reveled. From the heart came more vines they formed her bow. Then the bow in her back appeared with the vines. At that point more vines appeared and they grew upward. The vines keep growing up until they were above her head. They then began to wrap around her body causing a wall of vines around her. The vines tied into a point above her head. When the vines died down and the girl's hair slowly drops back resting on her shoulders. And Sailor Capella was reveled fully transformed. She did her transformation pose. Her pose was her standing with her right arm stretched out in front of her. Her left arm is resting on her hip. Her head was tilted slightly forward. Her legs were together. The three scouts along with Eclipse all ran towards the Sport's Center, when they ran in through the front doors, everything was so silent. "Be extra careful Stellar Scouts." Eclipse said as he looked around. A loud humming noise was heard, it sounded like a microphone, which was on full blast, but no one, was talking into the other end. They all ran into the large room where Jessica would be fencing in ten minutes. People lay on their chairs, some on the floor, there was a bright light coming from the announcers booth. "There!" Sailor Sun said as she pointed to the booth, as they ran up the stairs that they had heard Kurai-ki speaking. "Why thank-you for being so agreeable with me! I just knew that you would hand over your Heart Stone without me doing much!" Sailor Sun burst in through the door, Kurai-ki threw the man's body down a bit startled and turned to look at the scouts. "Oh great!" He said obviously not pleased. Sailor Sun ran up to the green demon and grabbed him by the neck, he threw him down to the ground then out the door. "I am sick and tired of you showing up at events like this, your ruin people's lives! And I don't want to see you anymore!" Kurai-ki crawled out of the room, Sailor Pollux kicked him in the back causing him to go tumbling down the stairs. He landed in a big tangled up heap. The small throbbing orb followed him down. Sailor Capella jumped at the orb and grabbed it in her hands, she got an electric shock through her body. "OWW!" She said as she threw it down to the floor in rage, it cracked open a bit and the Heart Stones started to come out, they went into the bodies of the many unconscious people lying around the room. "NO!" Kurai-ki quickly jumped up he waved his hand over the opening and it sealed. But he was still too late to stop all of the Heart Stones of the poor people, which he had attacked that day. "You will pay for this!" Kurai-ki said as he got ready to fire razor sharp leaves at the scouts. He spun them around his body, then as he flared his wings out the leaves flew at the Sailor Scouts at full speed. Not being able to completely escape the leaves, Sailor Pollux and Sailor Capella found themselves with cuts in their uniform and arms. The Daystar Knight had blocked the attack with his cape, but even that couldn't stand up to the leaves, some tore threw managing to cut his arms. Sailor Sun, still going threw her fit of rage jumped up at Kurai-ki and did a series of kicks at him while still in the air, he fell to the ground with a loud smack, people around the room had started to come to. "Well I'm sorry Sailor Sun, but I should be off now. I will be seeing you scouts real soon!" With that Kurai-ki disappeared, Sailor Sun looked around the room for her mother. She saw her slouched over in her chair beside her husband. Sailor Sun ran over. "Are you alright mo . . . maim?" Sailor Sun quickly remembered that she was still in her scout uniform and reworded herself. "Yes thank-you, are you the brave woman that saved a small little boy at his school one day?" Mrs. Walker asked as she slowly sat up with the help of the red haired scout. "Yes I did, and there is no need to thank me!" Sailor Sun turned and quickly ran out of the room along with the other scouts and the Daystar Knight, Eclipse and Nova were waiting outside for them.
