Kayla & Co
The animals are settling into their new life very
happily. Holly is four years old this Christmas and now decidedly
non-feral. Such a difference from her kittenhood reign of terror!
All of a sudden she became a calm adult but still nothing fazes
her. When Kayla runs up to her to play, she is greeted with a
frosty look and backs off. If I hear Kayla wimpering in the bedroom,
it is because Holly has installed herself in the middle of Kayla's
bed and refuses to budge.
Kayla is two and a half and despite graduating from
Puppy School, she still hasn't got a brain in her head but she
is an enthusiastic and happy little soul. She's into everything
and it is such a joy to watch her loping through the bush when
I walk in the reserve with her. She has boundless energy and tears
around the yard like a maniac, either running through the bushes
with Tshinta or playing with a stick or palm frond.
Tshinta is now a big kitten and has never complained
about her role as Kayla's toy. She's never had a chance to get
up to kitten mischief because Kayla always wants to play with
her and she co-operates. At least she can jump up out of reach
when she has had enough of the playing. Lately she has discovered
the printer and tries to get at the noise when it is printing
and she delights in helping me type by walking over the keyboard.
She still ditches her collar as soon as I put it on her.
