There are Times....Sometimes
Ó Elizabeth Lance

There are times when it takes all the strength that we have just to make it to work every day.
And sometimes the beauty and wonder of life can give our souls wings as we pray;
When we see the first snow of the Winter, or touch the soft bud of a rose;
When a weary man's head seeks the lap of his Love and he smiles with content, in repose.

There are times when "self" is the source of our thoughts which is when we must face our defeat,
For our needs, unfulfilled, become embers that lie as cold ash at our feet.
We have to move on, not look backwards, to do so will only cause pain
And the very mistakes we strive to forget will return to haunt us again.

There are times when we gamble all that we own and make others pay for our greed.
Sometimes the treacherous whirlwind of words blinds our sight to the mercy we need.
Then anger, fanned by our wounded pride, flares ever fiercer and higher,
And all too soon the toll is great of those caught in that pitiless fire.

 There are times when we take up our swords and fight, and times when we lay them down.
There are times when we're only court jesters - there are others when WE wear the crown.
There are moments that we may treasure, and those which we choose to forget
But then, Life is full of nuances between joy and deepest regret.

 There are times when life is a burden we bear, just as Jesus carried his cross;
And God in His heaven knows only too well the pain of love and its loss.
He needed to teach us His lesson - that love and pride do not blend,
That "humility" is the ingredient that will serve us all best in the end.
