Okay kiddies gather around
because this is a true story
I did NOT make this up
It was halloween night and I was 12 years old.
It wasn't a dark and stormy night, either ;-)
In fact there was hardly any wind at all, and the night was clear.
Because it was halloween, my parents had agreed to allow a couple of my girlfriends to sleep over
I lived in this small town in Northern California at the time and me and my friends
had just come back from trick or treating.
We put on our PJ's and my little brother who was 9 decided to join us in my bedroom.
It was Jay's idea to bring the ouija board and we talked about who we wanted to bring
back from the dead and decided on Jack the Ripper.
**** spooky sound effect here***
So Jay and I got these halloween candles that Mom used to decorate. They were real candles
the kind with a real flame and boy did we get into trouble later, but ...
Anyway here are the 5 of us in a circle around the ouija board holding hands and chanting
"Jack the Ripper if you are in this room show us a sign"
All of the sudden, the flames flickered and we heard a kind of howling sound coming
from far away
Then the flames flickered again ... and then suddenly
The room went dark!
Then there was this loud crashing sound and we all started to scream
It was so loud that my parents came rushing in to see what had happened.
They turned on the overhead lights and we could see nothing wrong at first in the room
We were all talking at once we were so scared. Of course my parents
didn't believe that we could bring back Jack the Ripper but they knew that
SOMETHING happened in there
We all scattered and starting looking around the room when my mom
opened the closet door and...
The solid oak bar from which I hung my clothes had snapped in half
and was lying on the floor with all the clothes.
My Dad examined the break and said it was such a clean one that
it was almost like someone... or something...
had sawed it in half.
The next day I took Jay's ouija board and threw it away.
That is a night that I will never forget
