Tim Schermerhorn President
|
The New Directions candidate for Local 100 President is Tim Schermerhorn. A founding member of New Directions, Tim was hired as a conductor in 1983 and has been a Train Operator since 1984. He has been elected as a delegate to the TWU Convention from the United Motormen's Division in 1989, 1993 and 1997. He was elected Vice-Chair of the UMD in 1991. In 1994, he ran for Local President against Dom Seda and won 45% of the vote. He chose not to run for re-election to the Division Committee and returned to the road in order to organize his co-workers to stand up to management's abuses. A Tier3/4 member, Tim opted into the 25/55 pension. |

Roger Toussaint Recording Secretary |
For Local 100 Recording-Secretary, New Directions' candidate will be Roger Toussaint. Roger is currently the Track Division Chair and head of the Track Safety Committee. He was elected to these positions in 1994. He was also recently elected to represent Track at the TWU Convention to be held at the end of September. Although he is on release-time to serve on the Safety Committee, Roger works midnight, without shift differential, to make sure that low seniority night shift workers finally have same union representation.
