Children of the Night

Frolicking children through the chilly night,
running across wet grass to reach our destination.
I stop eyeing a baby dandelion.
"Let's make a wish.", i whisper.
We pluck our dandelions,
make our wishes,
and blow them into the wind for Fate to control.
Grasping hands we, we dance to music only our hearts can hear.
On the damp swings we soar through the sky and feel so free,
with eyes lit up like candles.
We can caress the stars.
I reach out to invisible hands and spin,
The stars rush by in a blur.
In the still thickness of the night, we speak in hushed voices,
for the crickets might hear.
"Let's race!", and i take off like a spooked stalion,
giggling all the way,
night air rushing over my body.
We surrender to the ground, heartbeats pounding out a steady rhythm,
the grass holding us, holding each other.
And we lay there,
Children Of The Night

Hope For Tomorrow

I sit in a dark, silent room with memories of words spoken.
My conscience is screaming at me.
"Look at you! You're pathetic! What have you done?"
Funny how it speaks so clearly, now that all is said and done.
I look around my room taking notice of meanings.
My possessions speaking to me in relief, for I am hearing their meanings for the first time.
The clothes on my floor are showing me the clutter in my life.
My phone is begging me to make contact with the outside world.
It is telling me that it wants to bring news of my friends.
My door and my window are fighting.
My door is shut and telling me not to leave,
that i need to be alone for a while with my thoughts.
But my window is telling me to escape.
She wants me to flee from my problems.
To run and to escape from tomorrow.
My stuffed animals wear blank stares and, sadly, have nothing to say.
Their eyes have no stories while mine are books filled with wonders and worries of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
In the end, beauty prevails, for the roses are smiling at me from across the room.
They remind me that there are many people who care and i can get through tomorrow with the help of those who love me.

Untitled

I wonder sometimes if i am crazy
A crazy little fool...
A fool who believes in things
Things that cannot be so
So i wonder if i may be crazy

Am i expecting too much from you
You, a kite with no strings attached
Attached to my heart like a noose
A noose wrapped around me in a thousand ways
Ways that i expect too much

My soul yearns to be cherished
Cherished like pictures of memories
Memories of things from the past
Past yeilding learning and knowing
Knowing my soul needs to be cherished

I want to be seen as beautiful
Beautiful like a butterfly
A butterfly who's cacoon holds such promise
Promise that can often not be held
Held beautiful, like i want to be seen as

Sometimes i wonder if i am crazy.

Snow White

It's the perfect day for a summer picnic, and the babbling brook beckons us to come bathe in it's beauty.
Water caresses my toes with an icy kiss.
We playfully splash each other and watch panicky minnows scamper away.
The birds are giggling at our childish behavior.
We sit amongst the pebbles and feel the water rush over our bodies.
I pick one up and feel it's glassy smoothness, then toss it playfully at a meandering carp just to watch it jump.
We walk up a crumbling, weathered bridge that has eyes like my grandmother's mother, and stand soaking wet and chilled from the breeze.
The water rushes beneath us and plunges over the side of a bluff in a never-ending game of Tag.
We return to our blanket, thankful for it's warmth.
On our backs, we watch the always moving picture show that is created by the smudges in the sky.
In our 3-D cinema, the clouds devise characters, the robins are the symphony, the grass provides a bed, and the tickets are free.
Love untangles my hair, the sun kisses my feet, and the wind delicately pampers my skin.
I don't have to look to know that the squirrels and birds and other wild life are watching us.
I steal a kiss to see if I can make them blush.
I feel like Snow White enjoying every part of nature.

When I Think of You

When i think of you,
my eyes smile.
My heart soars,
a country mile.
Your soft caress,
a gentle kiss.
You fill my days,
with joy and bliss.
When i wake up,
you're in my head.
When i'll see you,
things i've said.
Thoughts warm my skin,
like a summer's breeze.
You fill my mind,
you shake my knees.
Passion overflows within,
dreams of you and me.
Hopes for the future,
what we will be.
Your mind can rest at ease,
knowing i'll be true.
No matter what should happen,
I'll always love you.
