The father and mother of Van and Folken. Goou was king of Fanelia and piloted Escaflowne before Van. He met Varie one fateful night and decided to marry her even tho she was born of the the mysteriously "cursed" Dragon Clan. Goou died when Van was five, and Varie disappeared when she went searching for Van's missing brother, Folken.
