Once upon a time, there was a little teddy bear cub by the name of Chuck. Everyday Chuck and his mommy would take long walks in the fields, so Chuck's mommy could pick the lovely wild flowers. One day while collecting flowers, Chuck's mommy said, " You know Charles I love our walks together in the fields and I love wild flowers". Chuck smiled at his mom and said, "Well, I think flowers are for girls and I only come for the walk to keep you company. In fact, I really don't like flowers at all." "Oh, you think flowers are just for girls, do you? Well, one day you may change your mind" said his mom. "Mommy, do you know what I love the best "? asked Chuck. "What my dear son? What do you love best"? his mother asked waiting for his sure to be, cute answer. "I love birds", replied her little son. "Oh, and why is that"? asked his mom. "Because birds can fly and be free"! replied her son in a very excited voice. I wish I could fly like a bird". "Now, Charles you know you are a teddy bear and bears can't fly", replied his mom. "Well, I just might be the first to fly," thought Chuck. "Mommy, why do you call me Charles all the time, when you know I like to be called Chuck"? His mom just smiled and gave her little cub a kiss on his forehead and said," Whatever I call you, just remember that I love you and you know what? If you really want to fly like the birds someday, I just bet you will."
When Chuck got big, he decided the time had come to leave home and go out into the world and somehow learn to fly like the birds, he had watched in the fields as a young cub. It was time to make his wish come true. He did just that in fact he was so good at flying that everyone, who knew him, called him Captain Cockpit. You see, Chuck learned to fly airplanes, which was as close to a bird flying as a little teddy bear cub could get.
One day, while out for a ride in his plane, Chuck heard strange sounds coming from his engine. "I don't like the sounds of this. I better land at the nearest airport and have the airplane mechanic take a look", thought Chuck. Once on the ground, the airplane mechanic looked at the engine. "This will take a couple of hours to repair. Why don't you borrow my car and go take a nice ride in the country. We have some pretty sights in this area", the mechanic told Chuck. "Well, I don't know, I hate to leave the plane", Chuck said to the mechanic. He really was thinking to himself," I don't want to leave the plane with just ANYONE". The mechanic threw Chuck the car keys and said, "By the time you return, she will be all fixed and ready to go. Now off with you".
Riding through the countryside Chuck found himself feeling a little better. Sure was pretty country and the air was perfect. "Perfect for flying", thought Chuck. "Time to get back to the plane". As he turned the car down a small dirt road, Chuck noticed a field of lovely wild flowers nearby. He also noticed a very attractive sight in the middle of the flowers. It was the prettiest little teddy bear, he'd ever seen. "She looks like a rosebud in a field of wild flowers", thought Chuck.
Before he realized what he was doing, Chuck had stopped the car and was walking in the field of lovely flowers, toward the beautiful bear. The smell of the flowers was delightful and the little bear looked up at Chuck and thought to herself, "He's so handsome in his flight jacket and scarf. Finally she spoke, "Oh, do you like flowers"? Chuck smiled at this beautiful teddy bear and replied, " Oh, yes I love flowers." and he thought of his mother's words, so long ago. "By the way, my name is Charles, but my friends call me Captain Cockpit because I love to fly airplanes too". The teddy gave him a radiant smile and replied, " I would love to fly over the fields of beautiful flowers like the birds". Chuck was ready for the answer, " I would love to give you a ride in my plane sometime and show you all the lovely flowers in the fields, but I must confess, you are by far the loveliest little rosebud I have ever set my eyes on".
