Deep Dark Cool Night (JCH -- 1992)
couples cruising
jamming
cars hot, waxed
& shining
police horses forging
through the tension
vampires & loners
filling the shadows

the dance floor
beaten paths
through steel & brick
looking through
smoke-stained
eyes for
something to call
their own

on the beach
late at night
the girls
running naked
splashing
laughing
under the careful eye
of a neon moon

the motorcycles
revved up
coughing gas
sour smash
liquor in bottles
leather & denim
at a truck stop
in the early a.m.

ah, the life
bedroom mysteries
& ailing spirits
made the man-child
deep w/in
the cool
dark of
a gentle night
