(JCH -- 1994)
the time I was a dog
         licking you
chasing the stars
uncovering ancient burial grounds
with my wanton nose
And then we were angels
         shining brightly
but still inside me
dwelt the pangs
         of despair

It was me.
I was the one who jumped ship.
The one who left my prizes
         behind in hopes of building
         castles in the sand
