(JCH -- 1990)
Dog dog go away from me
What is it you want to see?
Why do you come to me?
What is it that I can fetch for you?
Is it words you want?
Images stretched across the lawn?
Reasons why?
Do you want religion?
Girls?
Wine?
Why do you not speak?
Instead you wish to sit by my side
Watching the wind blow the leaves.
Is there some internal peace
I unknowingly offer you?
Sit then.
Stay by my side and I will feed you.
Walk with me, but I will not lead you.
Nor will I follow.
We shall walk together, you and I.
