The Millenium Bluff
One of the contestable topics nowadays, providing enough room for small talks and controversy on the brink of the3-rd Millenium, that is whether the Millenium begins
on 1st January 2000 , or, on 1st January 2001.
Supporters of the first side argue that:
In mathematical terms the distance between 0 and 1 could not be ignored;
There should be a clear distinction between the so-called BC era and AC era by means of drawing a zero-year line;
By analogy to the fact that the new day begins at midnight, but not at 1 o'clock a.m., the third Millenium should also begin in 2000 AC, but not in 2001 AC.
The controversy finally boils down to the question of whether there is such a thing as a "zero" year, separating the two eras, or, whether there's not. This however, is not only an ambiguous but also a rather messy information to be dealt with, because of the fact that neither Jesus Christ, nor the authors of the gospels, cared about mathematics and figures.
