Jane is Karen's best mate and she also lives in Beechwood. They've known each other now for 3 years and during that time, they have found out some remarkable things about each other.
The only way to describe this is that it is truly uncanny.
Before knowing each other they found out that they both worked at the same place, doing the exact job which was graphic art and design.
They've both got the same taste in men, both like the same music and the best thing of all is that they know what the other one is thinking.
They are always out for a good time and having a laugh at people's expense who deserve it.
Jane is studying German because she has a fixation with Munich, and would love to see Ludwig's museums and castles. She also likes the work of composer Richard Wagner.
She also loves reading horror stories and since she found out that Karen had Old Demdyke as one of her families ancestor's, her interest in the Pendle Hill witches has grown. But she is not superstitious.
Jane is the older sister to Hazel and they have a very close relationship. Their personalities are like chalk and cheese, but this does not stop them from enjoying themselves, when they are together.
Hazel is the outrageous of the two, where Jane is a lot wiser, but that all changes when she has a drink or two.
She can do some outrageous things herself, such as emptying her neighbours bin outside her front door, and setting the contents on fire. She didn't realise that the door could have caught alight, but as Jane would say, "it's only a laugh".
Jane does not like the way Phil takes advantage of Karen. This is because she can see the way Phil uses Karen, when he has got nowhere to go for a drink and a smoke.
Jane is always telling Karen that Phil is manipulating her, but although Karen is aware of this, she doesn't like to confront the truth. Deep down Jane knows that Karen knows the truth because of the way they both continually take the Mickey out of him and try to set him up all the time.
Jane continually tries to get Karen out and about because she feels sorry for her stuck in her house all the time. That is why she decided to go round to Karen's tonight with Hazel to have a good time, and to set Phil up.
The practical joke what they had planned for Phil did not work out. Something else happened which was more terrifying than what they could ever imagine.
