Parades

I stood and watched the parade today
my first in many years

Fewer here than last I came
the memories bring on tears

It?s been some time since the war
but every year they march

Scars and crippled, homeless, riddled
uniforms doused in starch

A chance to serve, a young man?s dream
to go and win the battle

The terror that soon meets him
would make your stoned head rattle

Although I see it turning grey
It seems like only yesterday

Parades
I wish they?d go away
