We are pleased to respond to what are often the “Frequently Asked Questions” or FAQs.
1. What is the Silva Method?
Silva Method is the first program developed to help people learn to enter the alpha dimension with controlled awareness. At this dimension, they can learn to use the right brain hemisphere and the ‘subjective’ level to think.
Independent scientific studies have demonstrated that alpha brain wave activity
is associated with inner levels of mental awareness, tranquility, rest and relaxation.
This alpha wave activity is associated with inspiration, creativity, accelerated
healing, concentration, learning, E.S.P, and many other exciting phenomena.
2. Why is it called the “Silva” Method?
It is named after the developer who started it all, Jose Silva.
Research to develop the Silva Method began in Laredo, Texas, in 1944 by Jose
Silva whose original purpose was to help his children to improve their ability
to concentrate, learn more, and make better grades. It eventually led to the
creation of a program that has helped millions of people worldwide to change
their lives for the better and achieve goals successfully.
3. What does the coursework (Basic Lecture Series or BLS) consist of?
There are four modules:
- MC 101 CR for Controlled Relaxation – teaches how to
reach within seconds a level at which the mind achieves extraordinary ability
to control vitality and energy for the body and assist in the solution of problems
without stress or strain.
Benefits to the participants are increased efficiency, concentration, relaxation,
self-control, and enhanced learning capacity.
- MC 202 GSI for General Self-Improvement – teaches the expansion of awareness, improved image creation and visualization for application in specific problems, such as improvement of memory, control of physiological functions, and development of habits.
- MC 303 ESP for Effective Sensory Projection - teaches the extension of controlled awareness into the subconscious building on the knowledge and experience gained in the first two modules. “Imagineering” techniques are provided to develop superior intuitive sense.
- MC 404 AESP for Applied Effective Sensory Projection – teaches the use of the participants’ “subjective points of reference” established during the sessions for problem solving. Practise is done through “case-working” in class. With controlled management of mental energy, participants take recognizance of the tremendous powers of the human intelligence to assist in their problem resolution and efforts to make this a better world in which to live.
4. What is the special 2.0 version of BLS?
Since 1966 when Jose Silva first publicized the mind training program up to the time of his passing in 2000, the materials used in the BLS had been the same throughout the decades.
In 2001, a select group of very seasoned lecturers was mandated to “adjust” the “phraseology” in select sections of the teacher’s manual as well in the student manual in keeping with the changing characteristics of the times. Along the years, the consciousness of people has been heightened and their awareness raised. Hence the “language” necessitated refinement for more precise communications. The expressed instruction was that the undertaking would maintain the integrity of the work of Silva and it did.
5. Is the mind training effective?
Millions of people in 34 countries from all walks of life and of all ages, creeds, cultures and educational attainments have asserted that, “It works!”
There have been powerful testimonies of successes achieved through the use of these mental techniques in the areas of stress management, health and wellness, business and career, relationships and personal goals, learnings, athletic excellence, spirituality and happiness.
You can read of the “programming achievements” compilation of select
practitioners by Judy Qua entitled, “Everyday Miracles and the Silva Method
– Success Stories of Ordinary People who have transformed their everyday
lives with the world-famous mind development program.”
6. Can you cite a few successful stories?
In the field of athletics, international bowler, Paeng Nepomuceno, used the Silva Method techniques taught him to unprecedentedly win the prestigious “World Cup” the third time in 1992 and earned a citation in the Quinness Book of Records as the only athlete in the world to have won for three consecutive decades. Not only did he make history with the third win, he went on to garner a fourth win a few years after.
Manny S., a retail store chain entrepreneur, boasted that he expanded 7 stores in 2 years after applying the Silva Method techniques as compared to only 7 stores in the earlier 20 years.
Romy R. averted a laser treatment for his eye by visualizing the healing process. Don S. cured his 28-yr old rhinitis with severe dependence in antihistamines in just two months of mind programming. Crescencia B. overcame her 35-yr long insomnia with the Sleep Control technique. Lydia N. recovered from her cancer bout with the help of visualization learned.
Flor B, Cecille R., and Ruby C were able to conceive and produce Silva Method-programmed babies when they were barren since marriage.
Ester T. and Fred M. didn’t think they would find their lifemates until they attracted the “right” ones after taking the Silva Method coursework. Both are happily married.
Scott M. succeeded in getting one of only three available slots of medical residency in the States amidst a field of 400 applicants.
These are just some of the testimonials excerpted from the book, “Everyday Miracles and the Silva Method.”
7. Is the coursework for everyone?
Yes. For as young as 6 to as mature as 96 and over. For anyone who is open to learning and feels deserving of being the person he/she wants to be. The youngest who has taken the training is 6 and the oldest, 89.
8. What is the format of the coursework?
The program essentially equips the participants with simple but effective “mental tools” which are taught through lecturettes in the conscious level and “programmed” into the subconscious level with “mind-directing exercises.
9. Will I be able to learn – at my age,
when I have been out of school for long?
Changes in the world we live in - in employment, software, equipment and personal interests - require us to learn new skills. If we do not grow with the changes, we will be negatively changed beyond our own recognition and liking.
Everyday, and in every aspect of our lives, we must draw on every one of our brain’s abilities to keep up with the swiftly moving world around us. The great comforting assurance is that scientists have proved that we can all be continuing learners. We already have all the critical abilities and they’re hardwired into our brain. What we need to acquire are skills, the mental tools to optimize our innate resources. And the Silva Method offers these skills and mental tools.
According to a management guru, there are 4 Ls in life, among others: to live, to love, to learn, and to leave a legacy. What would you want to be your legacy to the world, to life?
10. What if I don’t fully absorb in the
sessions?
The distinct difference of this Silva Method program from all other seminars and workshops is that it offers a lifelong “world repeat” privelege.
Graduate-practitioners who have taken the BLS in one country can return to review and refresh, as many times as needed, in the same place or in any country that offers the program. Satisfaction of learning is thus ensured. Graduates are given a “certificate” which serves as a “world passport” for lifelong re-learnings.
There is no reason or excuse for not being able to learn, master, and apply.
11. Who will conduct the sessions?
Judy Qua. She is the country director and the sole licensed lecturer of the Silva Method program. Before she took a leave more than three years ago, she had personally trained more than 8,000 practitioners in Metro Manila and key provinces such as Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboaga, and General Santos. She also guest-lectured in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States. She was one of the consistent awardees of the “Most Outstanding Lecturers” by the Silva International in Texas.
Qua holds a Master’s Degree in Social and Industrial Psychology. She also has a MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She was a well-read columnist in a leading daily for eight years. She has four books to her name: “Everyday Miracles and the Silva Method”, “Teach Only Love”, “Make Love Work”, and “The Heart of the Mind.”
She is also a sough-after motivational speaker and has touched the lives of tens of thousands.
12. How much is the investment?
In the Unites States, people invest an average of US$395 to US$695, depending on the economic level of the cities, in the Silva Method program. In Japan, the investment is higher at US$800 to US$1000. In Hong Kong, it’s about US$600 to $700 and in Singapore, US$450 to US$550.
In the Philippines, because of its ‘developing’ country status, even if the learning imparted by the seasoned lecturer is of ‘first-world’ and ‘world-class’ caliber, the Silva International has agreed to a special rate which includes manual, tax, meals of two days (one lunch and two snacks) at a five-star hotel venue.
With this investment, the participants have the privelege, after the course completion, of reviewing* the course in any country of the world where the Silva Method program is offered for the rest of their lives. Seen in this light, the tuition is very minimal.
Please email us at [email protected] for the tuition and the special offer for the first “Silva Mind Returns” seminar.
* A very small seating fee applies.
13. When is the schedule of BLS?
August 2 and 9, 2003 (two Satrudays) from 8am to 7pm at the Le Boulevadier (ground floor) of Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Makati City.
Participants are requested to be on time to avail of the intensive learnings. There will be an hour lunch break and two 20-min snack breaks.
Participants have to start the first day to join the second day. Should compelling
reasons prevent the attendance in the second day, they may participate in the
next seminar schedule.
