MEETING OF BUBBENHALL ANNEXE ACTION GROUP

HELD ON THURSDAY, 18 FEBRUARY 1999
 
 

1 EJ introduced himself and offered his support. He works

for the Diocese and has contacts who may prove useful.
 
 

2 It was reported that approximately 17 people, all supporting the

annexe, had attended surgeries with Governing Body.
 
 

3 It was noted a letter could be sent to

both communities supporting the annexe. It was agreed to wait until

after the Consultation Meeting on 24 February to see if this would be

necessary.
 
 

3 It was noted that AS would be attending Consultation

Meeting. He may be able to provide useful background information.

5 JG to meet with Council for Protection of Rural England on

26 February.
 
 

5 The Governors were to be asked to set an agenda for the

Consultation Meeting. Issues for discussion: Education, Finance,

Community, Transport, History.
 
 

6 It was noted that MB was reported to have said that

there are LEA financial reasons for Annexe closure. There was also an

unconfirmed report that the Classroom Assistant has been advised that

her contract will terminate in July.
 
 

7 Noted that CJ - LEA Schools Officer, will be on

consultation panel.
 
 

8 People were nominated to raise key questions in the event that

they were not covered. Further points noted:
 
 

Seat belts, that fit, for four year olds.
 
 

Is it beneficial for Juniors and Infants to be together?
 
 

Can the aims of OFSTED only be achieved by closing the Annexe?
 
 

Question the comment about transition problems for 7 year olds.
 
 

9 Noted that letters to Secretary of State and council officials,

should be sent if Governing Body votes to close annexe.
 
 

10 Agreed that petition would be circulated around village.
