Alone

The morning started off just like any other; I got up, washed and made breakfast without noticing anything different. However, I was first alerted to something being a miss when there was nothing on the telly, literally. The only channel that had nothing but snow had instead what appeared to be a still of their news 24 studio. I looked lazily out the window as I wondered what the heck was going on when I noticed several rabbits hopping around the area of grass just in front of my house. The way they were moving, I could have sworn they looked lost. As I looked around, I could see a car sitting bang in the middle of the green; its engine still running. I could see a pair of long fluffy ears moving about inside. Suddenly some movement on the telly caught my eye and I looked down. Sitting on the desk nibbling on a piece of paper was a large, brown, floppy eared rabbit. Another one jumped up onto the desk beside it, but it had some difficulty walking as it kept on tripping over a tie that was around its neck. I dropped my bowl and ran up the stairs. I slowly walked into my parents' bedroom not wanting to look. Their bed appeared to be empty at first, until what looked like a couple of lumps in the sheets, moved. I walked over to the bed calmly. I pulled the sheets away sharply to reveal two more rabbits. They both looked at me, then each other, then started hopping around the room as if possessed. I ran back down the stairs as fast as I could, stumbling awkwardly on the last few steps. I switched on the radio hoping for the sound of a human voice; there was nothing. I scanned all the stations I knew and yet still no sign of life. I slumped into a chair feeling complete despair. Wait, there was one option left. I hurried to my computer and turned it on. As soon as windows had loaded I connected to the net. Quite uncommonly for my ISP I connected first time. I immediately logged on to undernet and went into TSA_list. There were names there, but no one was saying anything. I called out to them several times, even shouting some obscenities, anything to get them to respond. But they didn't. My computer suddenly let out a noise to tell me that I had received new mail. I switched into Outlook and read the mails that had been downloaded. There was nothing there to indicate anything out of the ordinary, until I read the last message. It was from Ocicat about his new fur suit. It started like a normal message until he suddenly started talking about himself turning into something. It was hard to read the last few lines as they had several spelling mistakes, but there was the word rabbit in there. I looked at the screen in disbelief. Could it be? Could everyone have turned into a rabbit, but me? I could see one of my parents chewing on a piece of pot puree and broke down.
