At the end of the 21st century, the world officially declared peace. Once the whole of Europe was unified under the single currency, the complete merging of all the countries into a single power quickly followed. The transition was a turbulent one, almost tearing apart several of the member countries as gradually each one was won over by the promises of greater trading when they joined; and less if they didn't. However, it didn't stop there; Europe's neighbours looked at its prosperity and power with envious eyes. Eventually the Europe Ministerial Body allowed any country that wished to, to join. By 2092 all but Japan and America had joined into a single power ruled by the EMB and with the introduction of the Personal Information Chip implant almost all borders were destroyed and with them land and culture rivalries. Finally man had realised that they were going to have to live with each other whether they liked it or not, and on the 7th of January 2094 the Europe Ministerial Body changed it's name to the World Ministerial Parliament. Even though countries themselves no longer existed, the world was far too big for just a single cabinet to run. Each country kept its title and political structure, but the Prime Minister or Presidents and most of their cabinet made up the WMP. In this way, almost all conflicts were solved through the WMP, and strategic blockading would quash those that weren't. Even though America wasn't officially part of the WMP, its president and office were included in all meetings and movements. The Americas had also joined into one nation and thusly were powerful enough to resist the temptations that the EMB had offered. However, this time of unification was also a time of flux and even great poverty for some nations. Almost all scientific research in Europe had crawled to a stop and only America was able to continue with any speed. However, research had not stopped altogether, in fact this period of near dormancy for Europe had allowed several GM experiments to flourish. This lead to allot more experiments into Genetics and Bioengineering due to its relative cheapness to the mechanical/electrical fields. By 2100, the first successful genetically altered animal had been created. Although small alterations had been done before, this creation had greatly significant changes made to its viral, contaminant, chemical and radiation resistance, its strength, agility, perception, intelligence, and most importantly; it's life expectancy. With this achievement (the rabbit that was used lived to a rather impressive 34 years with no evidence of illness of any kind, despite numerous test to infect/kill it) left the way open to enhance humans.
