VRML

*Technology

The only way to author worlds that can be viewed on all computers is to use the industry standard VRML. Currently VRML 97 is the standard and gives a basic world to fly through. VRML 97, also known as Moving Worlds, has been released and is in its early stages. It allows animation, sound and other fun features. Other software manufacturers have offered enhancements to VRML 1.0/2.0 . Example are Netscape's Live3D or Silicon Graphics Cosmoplayer which allow us to add sound and some basic animation. As new technologies are developed they will be made available. In order to view VRML worlds a web browser must be configured to work with a 3D browser. Several 3D browser are available free for download. They fall into two categories, Helper Applications and Plug-Ins. Helper Applications work with most 2D browser as well as Netscape. Plug-Ins are designed specifically to work within Netscape.Here are some of our favorites:
