Human Traffic
Year: 1999
Director: Justin Kerrigan
Summary: This film follows a group of five friends on a hedonistic weekend in Cardiff. There's Jip (John Simm), at home to Mr Floppy and not sure whether the Ecstasy he is taking is to blame, Coop (Shaun Parkes), an easy-going DJ until jealousy about girlfriend Nina (Nicola Reynolds) sets in, Nina's best mate, Lulu (Lorraine Pilkington) and fellow job-seeker and Category 'A' head case, Moff (Danny Dyer). The film traces the arc of the weekend with feelings ranging from euphoria to paranoia. A good time is had all round but as with all heavy weekends, the effects soon wear off. It's blessed with some comic moments of the highest quality, mostly surrounding Moff, the film's de facto star. A back-of-the-cab rant featuring Travis Bickle, Peter Andre and a painfully applied coat hanger is first class. The end result of this film is a very legal high.

Reservoir Dogs

Director: Quentin Tarantino
Summary: A gang of thieves carry out an armed robbery on a Diamond warehouse. The police are after them so quickly that they suspect they have a rat in their company. This film starts right after the robbery, with flashbacks to before the robbery, and to the planning of the crime. We are also introduced to the main characters in flashback mode. Plenty of fast action, and an all-star cast featuring Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Tierney, Michael Madsen and Quentin Tarantino himself.
