September, 2000Bookmarklets.com--This is a great new idea, computer programs that can be placed on your browser's toolbar to aid in your surfing or other endeavors. For example I have on my browser a program that can read the cookies that a particular website is placing on my hard disk. Note to programmers: how about coming up with a way to read, locate and remove specific cookies?! Another program I found here is a dictionary. Anyone who does any amount of writing needs a good dictionary! There are other programs as well and links to other sites that provide even more programs. Also there is technical information here, so if you proficient in Javascript programming you can write your own programs. But you don't have to be a programmer to use the programs found on this web site. Have fun! |

CONSUMER'S CORNERBeware McAfee software. I recently purchased McAfee's Utility Suite and it messed up my computer to such an extent that I was forced to call McAfee's help line several times and they were less than helpful! I was finally forced to reformat my hard disk and restart windows. As a result I lost important data! Previous to that I had a problem with their antivirus software. McAfee definately needs to improve their software and their customer support! Until they do, I do not intend to purchase any more software from McAfee and will continue to warn off anyone thinking of doing so. If I'm lying let them sue me!
