On September 11th, demonstrations against the DSEi arms fair took place. The WOMBLES were there in protective equipment and made good progress against some police lines, despite beatings and arrests.

11-14 September, London: DSEi is the Defence Systems & Equipment international arms fair, being held at the Excel Centre in Docklands. Its the biggest exhibition for the trade in death in Europe. Arms and equipment - from bullets to battleships - will be showcased to visitors.
The trade in the commodity of arms and "defence" equipment underpins the corporations ravaging our planet and the governments that can only use violence to support their global economic order.
Actions - Tuesday 11 September 2001
Using diverse forms of civil disobedience, the FIESTA FOR LIFE AGAINST DEATH - a fusion of celebration and action - will make an audacious intervention against the DSEi exhibition. Come in costume, think pink and silver, bring instruments and drums, food and water to share.
MEET at 12 noon, Tuesday 11 September 2001, at Tidal Basin Road, London E16. Transport links: DLR Royal Victoria Dock. Underground: Canning Town + West Ham (incs. main rail links too).
The WOMBLES will make a direct contribution to this bloc using our weapons - our bodies - to confront the commodity that enforces all others. CRITICAL MASS: Calling all bikes, skates, wheelchairs, boards and anything on wheels with no engine. Come dressed brightly and loudly, with music, whistles and more! Meet at South Bank, outside NFT at 10.00am sharp. Other autonomous actions will take place against DSEi throughout the exhibition.
Organise with friends, network with local groups, get an affinity group together. Discussion, banner-making, padding preparation and much more will be taking place soon.
On 16 January 2001 white overalls were worn so that the invisible - the victims of militarism and capitalist agression in Iraq and beyond - were made visible.
