Genoa reports

FROM THE GENOA SOCIAL FORUM: "The world in which we are preparing the G8 summit in Genova is one full of deep injustices. 20% of the world population - in countries with advanced capitalism - wastes 83% of the resources of our planet; 11 million children die every year of malnutrition and 1.3 billions live on less than one dollar per day.

This situation does not improve: it is worsening continuously.

The international importance of this summit represents a challenge to all those organizations that for a long time have worked to affirm - with different methods and priorities- principles of social justice, solidarity, and just and sustainable development. "

The actions against the G8 will be massive: more than 100,000 are expected for the International March on 21 July.

Travel advice

There will be a convergence in Bologna on July 16th at Bologna Social Centre TPO http://www.ecn.org/tpo/ for people going to Genoa for the G8 actions and who want to be part of the Civil Disobedience bloc. This is due to the restrictions on movement in Genoa and lack of accomodation.

There will be a mass bloc of people leaving for Genoa on the 18th at 6pm from Bologna central station. If people are interested they should email [email protected] with the subject line 'GENOA'.

More info including maps and train timetables will be up on this site soon.
