The U.S. Naval Sea Cadets is a volunteer program which provides naval and military orientation and training to young men and women 13-18. The Navy League Cadet Corps is a companion program for young men and women 10-13.
The Sacramento Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps was established in xxxx. The Placer County Council of the U.S. Navy League gladly became sponsor of the Sacramento Division in 1996.
The Sacramento Division contains approximately xx young men and women, who meet for their drill weekend once a month at the McClellan Air Force Base in North Highlands, California. In the course of the past several years, xx Cadets have graduated into the military (Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard), while others have gone into the Merchant Marine. Others still have gone onto college, enriched by their experiences within the Sea Cadets.
In addition to participating in local parades, the Sacramento Division Color Guard will be glad to present the colors at your formal dinner or event, in return for a donation to the Sea Cadets. Sea Cadets will also volunteer to serve as waiters for dinner events of local nonprofit organizations, again in return for a donation to the Sea Cadets.
These donations and others are extremely valuable to the Sea Cadets, enabling them to purchase uniforms, equipment, medals and ribbons, and to enable their members to attend training sessions offered by the Sea Cadets.
In addition to our regular contributions of funds and equipment, the Placer County Council is glad to announce that this spring we have donated the funds which allow three of our Cadets to participate in a full week's on-board training aboard the California Maritime Academy's Training Ship Golden Bear.
