Welcome fans to the first weekly update of WWF news and views.

First off, its Sunday 23rd January and we all know what is happening tonight on Channel 4. Yes that's right its the Royal Rumble. I dont know about you but we feel that the Royal Rumble has to be the most exciting pay per view of the year and we look forward to it all the time. It looks like it could be a great event too. Coming from Madison Square Garden, probably the most famous arena in the world, the Royal Rumble has an outstanding card. Kurt Angle could be in for a shock when he finds out who his mystery opponent is, the undefeated streak will probably come to an end tonight. The favourite down here to be the mystery opponent is ...well look in the gossip column to find out.

Another match that we are eagerly anticipating is the Intercontinental match in which Chris Jericho, Chyna and Bob Holly square off in a Triple threat match for the belt. After all that has happened between Y2J and Chyna we believe Holly may be the favourite seeing as though he has no pressure on him to perform. Y2J and Chyna have something to prove after all the bickering and conflict that has been going on between them in recent weeks, remember the hammer to the thumb to Chyna by Jericho. We believe that was one of the most shocking sequences we have witnessed.

The Acolytes, big favourites down here at HQ, versus the New Age Outlaws promises to be a classic, as it always is between these two teams. The sketch in the bar during SmackDown was rather funny and enjoyable. It was the last time the Acolytes hit that bar. The Outlaws have had the upper hand in this battle in recent weeks and this does not look good for them. As we always see when an athlete gets the upper hand in the weeks leading up to the bout they dont seem to beat them when it comes to the crunch. This is why we believe the Acolytes will come out on top. The other tag team match at the Rumble which promises to be exciting is the Hardys vs the Dudleys. With it being a table match the Dudleys will probably have the upper hand due to experience in ECW, but the Hardys high flying antics should win this one. We dont just want them to win because of Terri...seriously.

The swimsuit contest will bring much joy but send us rushing to be sick if Mae Young comes out as she has been threatening to do. Please for the good of the show dont let her go out Mark.

The main event, Cactus Jack vs Triple H. We have all been looking forward to this since Cactus came back and with the stipulation in that it is a street fight we are promised a superb main event knowing only too well that both these men can brawl like animals. The firm favourite has to be Cactus Jack but you never know with the WWF they can pull some surprises, remember Survivor Series 1997. With the imminent retirement of Mick Foley, this could be the last chance for him to become champ and bow out gracefully at Wrestlemania 2000.

Finally the 30 man Battle Royal, this is scheduled to be before the street fight. The battle royal should be last in our minds. The most exciting sixty minutes in sports entertainment is looking good this year with the participants. Only 28 superstars are in at the moment. We could name names for eternity but I feel that Shamrock and possibly the Undertaker could be these two men, altough HBK is rumoured to be on his way back and could make an appearance.

Thats all this time folks,

GOSSIP COLUMN
As you may have read in the Ed's view Kurt Angle's has a mystery opponent here are my odds for who this could be:-

Taz 4/2
Chris Benoit 11/2
Dean Malenko 15/1
Randy Savage 18/1
Steve Blackman 25/1

Some of you may wonder why Benoit and Malenko are mentioned. Well, apparently before Souled Out, a wcw event, Vince Russo, remember him, was fired as head storyline writer. He was replaced by Kevin Sullivan. When Benoit found this out he threw his belt away and has asked for a release of his contract. This is mainly because Benoit lives with Sullivan's ex wife and he feels that he wont get a decent push. Others who have asked for a release are Shane Douglas, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko. Other wrestlers were mentioned like Rey Misterio Jr. but this hasnt been confirmed at this present time.
