A Doberman Family

What a wonderful life! I enjoy the pleasure of sharing my world with a talented, creative man who loves Gilbert and Sullivan. Our life is made even richer by having a black beauty who loves to seek attention with his own great performances.
Although Chris wasn't called on to man the oars in his chorus stint in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Gondoliers", the prop was added to provide a clue to friends and relatives who received the Christmas card. Otherwise, they might have thought him a leprechaun, escaped from an Irish musical.
Perry reluctantly posed for this photograph, because, as all of our Dobermans, he has a natural antipathy toward water.

Perry and the Peer
|
LOUDLY LET THE TRUMPETS BRAY......Chris was one of the chorus of Peers in the Gilbert and Sullivan opera "Iolanthe or the Peers and the Peri", which uses a "fairy" (peri) theme to lampoon the British House of Peers. Here he is wearing the coronet and robe with Order of Thistle regalia displayed in the peers' entrance.
The photograph was used in one of our Christmas cards and reference was made to "the peer and Perry", the latter, of course, the noble in the dark fur.

The Mikado
|
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO WE ARE.....These are the opening words of "The Mikado, or The Town of Titipu" sung by the chorus of noblemen who flash their fans and explain their "attitudes queer and quaint". Come to think of it, that's not a bad way to describe Chris' outlandish costume. He managed, as well, to step out of his sandals on opening night while shuffling into his prearranged spot but didn't miss a beat. A real trouper!
The photograph was also used for our annual Christmas card with Perry, as usual, stealing the show.
