The fund was established on November 8, 1993 in honor of Glenda Bennett, a dialysis patient at F.B. Smith Dialysis Center. Glenda taught in the elementary Liverpool School System for twenty years. At an early age Glenda became aware that she carried a genetic disease called polycystic kidneys which claimed her mother and several close relatives. She lived her life to the fullest giving all her love to family, her friends, students and fellow patients. Glenda was Co-founder of the Patients Advisory Board; an organization established to advocate patient's rights and promote communication between patients, staff, and administration. Her goal was to bring financial as well as emotional support to other patients in the dialysis unit. The initial monies for the fund were contributed by friends and relatives in remembrance of her passing. Her Loving Husband - Alan Bennett
This fund raises money through craft sales, golf tournaments, cookbooks, and the generosity of friends and relatives and patients. All proceeds raised go directly to assist patients in need of financial or medical aid.
NOTE: If you wish to leave a donation to the Glenda Bennett Patient-for-Patient Fund either in remembrance of a loved one that passed away or a gift to help support the fund, you must specify the Fund's name. If you simply leave it to the Unit or St.Joseph Hospital, money will be used for supplies that the government doesn't cover, it will not go directly to the patients. For your donation to directly help the patients please remember:
