KAT'S POETRY ROOM
WELCOME TO KAT'S POETRY ROOM
This poetry room along with my poetry mailing are forums for published poets as well as closet poets! It is time to dig out the high school love letters! LOL! Here's how it works. To join the mailing sign up at [email protected]. If you have any trouble at all subscribing, drop me a line at [email protected] and I will enroll you manually. The mailing will consist of several parts all of which require your participation! 1. Your poems. Depending on length there should be 7 to 10 poems each week. 2. The challenge. For this I need you to think of five to ten words that have absolutely nothing to do with one another and I will try to make them all fit into a poem. Usually this turns out to be hirlarious. 3. A short bio and sample poem from a famous writer. Your requests are apprectiated, if not I'll just pick somebody. I NEED YOU TO KEEP THIS GOING. I will not have advertising in my mailing. I do not get paid for any of this. I happen to be a poet and love poetry in all forms and aspects. Just in case anyone was wondering why I bother. To submit poems, ideas, jokes, challenge words, advice, HELP send it to [email protected]. I am only excepting poems from members at this time. So if you are interested subscribe to the mailing and I will use your work. There are only two ways to be rejected. 1. Using sexual explicit material. 2. Using foul language. I will make an exception to foul language if the poem has merit and the word can be deleted or changed. I will change foul words for a clean one if it is necessary to continue the flow of your work. However, I will note that I have done so with ( ) and a message at the end of your poem. We do have under eighteen subscribers, so please understand as a mother I can't in good conscience print four letter words.
THE POEM OF THE MONTH! PLEASE SEND YOUR VOTES TO [email protected]
Poem of the month for April 2000 is The Monkey Rides by John H. Ivey.
The Monkey Rides

The monkey rides unseen, hidden
easing unseen fears
soothing unspoken loss
the cost is small
the mounting interest
like a loanshark's interest
kills us all!
THE PEN IS STILL MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD!
Several subscribers asked me for more information about myself. I am 26 years old and mother of three daughters. I have been a widow for two years now. My first novel is with my agent and we hoped to have it accepted by a publisher by the end of 2000. Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted. I hope I didn't forget anything. If you have any questions: contact [email protected]. I will answer your mail. As always, keep writing, Kat
