That's right, zero. The Flamers defense, although it is ranked by far the best defense in the NFL, hadn't posted a shutout until today. RB Harold Currier has never looked better running the football, and today he had 32 carries for 169 yards, and 3 touchdowns making him the NFL's leading rush scorer with 10 TD's. The Flamers left the 1st quarter with a 14-0 lead, after a 4-yd TD run by Currier, and a 23-yd TD pass to WR James DeLuca. Another DeLuca TD reception from QB Steve Marcucci with 1:36 to go in the half gave the Flamers a commanding 21-0 lead. The Giants on the other hand, went 3-and-out 5 times in the 1st half. The Flamers received the ball to open the 2nd half, and Marcucci surprisingly used ALL 10 plays in the drive to hand off to Harold Currier. He ran for 7, 5, 6, 6, 6, 22, 6, 9, and 3 yards all on consecutive plays, capped off by the last run which was a TD run. The Flamers led 28-0 when 2 possessions later, Marcucci threw to James DeLuca for his 3rd TD reception of the game, Flamers lead 35-0. on the first play of the Giants next possession, Giants RB Gary Brown fumbled the football at the line of scrimmage, recovered by acting FS Nelly Sweeney at the NYG 42, setting up a PK Pat McNeill 44-yd FG. A fake punt by the Giants was unsuccessful, setting up another Pat McNeill FG, the score now 41-0 Flamers. Yet another fake punt by the Giants was unsuccessful, and that set up a Nelly Sweeney 6-yd TD rec, her NFL-leading 11th of the season. You'd think the Flamers were done, but a turnover on downs at the NYG 5 yard line made for an easy TD scamper for Harold Currier, the Flamers going on to win huge, 54-0. Currier received the MVP award for the game, as he had his best game at running back. The Flamers are 9-0, the only undefeated record in the NFL, after posting their first shutout in franchise history.
