The Frankfurt Flamers rushed for over 100 yards today.  Yes, I did state that correctly...100 yards.  RB Harold Currier claimed his first game MVP award as the Flamers survive the Bengals rally to win in week 7 becoming 6-0, tied with Dallas for the best record in the NFL.  He had 28 carries for 130 yards.  The game started with an 11-yd fumble recovery returned for a TD by CB Lauren Byrne to give the Flamers a 7-0 lead.  At the start of the 2nd quarter, Bengals RB Corey Dillon scampered into the end zone from 14 yards out to tie the score 7-7.  Currier ran to the 3 yard line 2 possessions later and fumbled, recovered by the Bengals defense.  However, the following play by the Bengals offense resulted in a fumble by Corey Dillon.  The Flamers took over and PK Pat McNeill kicked a 23-yard FG to give the Flamers another lead of 10-7.  The Bengals went 3 and out on their next possession, and the Flamers took over once again form their own 20 yard line.  Currier ran for 6 yards on 1st down, and then QB Steve Marcucci threw to the triple covered WR James DeLuca for a 73-yard TD pass.  Flamers led 17-7.  Acting FS Nelly Sweeney intercepted the first pass from Akili Smith and returned it 20 yards, setting up another Pat McNeill FG of 26 yards, 20-7 Flamers.  At halftime, Harold Currier had run for 96 yards.  On the first play after halftime, he became the first 100-yard rusher in a single game in Flamers history with a 13-yard run.  At the beginning of the 4th quarter, Steve Marcucci threw his first interception of the season.  This set up an 18-yard TD reception to Bengals WR Carl Pickens to cut the lead to 20-15 after the unexpected 2-point conversion.  Akili Smith drove down the field with less than a minute to go in the game, and with 5 seconds left on the Flamers 22 yard line, Smith thre a pass into the end zone.  LB Bryce Read was there to knock it down as the final seconds ticked away.  The Flamers became 6-0 for the first time in their history, and will play Dallas for the title of the last undefeated team remaining in the NFL next week.
