This part of Dreams
& Things is dedicated to those gentle little creatures we call
frogs!
We all know the
fairytale of a frog that turns into a handsome prince after
being kissed by
the princess.
I have never kissed
a frog, but love them none the less.
These slimy (but
oh so cute!) little creatures crept into my heart from an early age.
I have frogs in
my garden and they normally come out of hiding in summer
when they can be
found "hunting" on the lawn.
Frogs give us a
good indication of how healthy our environment is.
This is one of the
reasons why I use no pesticides whatsoever in my garden.
Many people keep
frogs in aquariums inside the home but I would advise anyone
to do a bit of research
before attempting this. Many frogs die every year
from being kept
in unhealthy conditions.
I prefer leaving
things up to nature and do as much as I can
to rather encourage
frogs to my garden.
How to invite
frogs into your garden:
Don't
use any pesticides
Install
a pond or water feature
Grow
an "oasis"
(lots of plans and water in a corner of
the garden)
Minimise
natural enemies
Attract
insects with scrubs or flowering plants (for food)
I was feeling pretty
blue
While a longing,
dear for you,
When I saw a little
frog
With his head above
the bog
Perhaps he's listening
Hoping too
Wishing he might
hear from you
And the note of
shear thought
Gave me, dear,
A happy thought!
