1. Lack of culture

Alright, so this one is pretty obvious (and it's also the first reason that comes into mind...) Of course, the US has basically no history considering basically 50 years ago no one knew it was there. But also, besides Jazz, nothing was really born in the US (country music doesn't count as culture, I'm sorry...)

2. Perversion of other cultures

When there's a McDonald's next to the Sphinx, you know the world is getting very fucked up...

3. Poor excuse for music

I'm sorry to say this (I know it will break people's hearts), but Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync and all that shit is not music... Whatever happened to needing talent to make it big (Britney Spears obviously has totally missed that...)

4. Jerry Springer

I know some people do very disturbing things (sleeping with their sisters/brothers/parents/cousins, whoever else; stealing best friend's wife; whatever else lonely/disturbed/bored people like to do...) However! Hearing about it on live television, is NOT necessary. I repeat, not necessary. Now it's disturbing enough that people do those sorts of things, even more so that they go on television to tell them, but people actually watch, love, live by the schedule of this show?! How? Did I miss a step in the evolution of man here? I hope not, and I also hope the people watching Jerry Springer will one day realize that they are a bit, ummm, foolish for doing so.

5. The Press

There is no doubt about it: the press holds a very important role in our society. We get all our information from it (may it be from newspapers, television, the Internet, radio, or whatever else), but sometimes you have to ask yourself, did I really need to know this? Alright, I know it was terrible of Bill to cheat on Hillary, but he's our president, we don't want to hear about his sex life. I am very sorry about JFK jr, but really, did he do anything? If your son died that way, no one would give a shit.. So why do you care about a total stranger? Also, you can't read your favorite magazine without learning that Cher got a face lift. Now really, who gives a flying rat's ass?

6. Pizza, soda, hamburger, candies, etc..

People sometimes ask themselves why American are so fat. Well, considering what they eat, it's really not hard to figure it out. Enough said.

7. Most powerful man on Earth

How many times have I heard our President called "The most powerful man on Earth"? "The President of the United States of America" is cocky enough, but "most powerful man on Earth"? That's going a little too far, can't anyone see it? Yes, the US is a very powerful country, but some modesty is always appreciated. Then, Americans wonder why everyone hates them..

8. "We saved your ass in WWII"

Alright, the US played an important role, but "we saved your ass" is going a little far. Plus, no, you didn't save my ass considering I wasn't there, and neither were you.. And if the US soldiers are so brave, how come they didn't "rescue" us earlier so that they would have been able to save a few million innocent people?

9. Blaming Marylin Manson for violence

There is no denying it, the US has more gun violence among teens than any other country. But is it really Marylin Manson's fault? I think not. Brazilian teens listen to Sepultura, and they don't go around killing each other. Now, don't try to tell me that US children have more "bad influence" than kids have in other countries, because that's not true. What might be the cause, and probably is, is that in other countries, children and teens don't have access to guns. A school shooting is sort of hard to do if your dad doesn't own a gun.. Now why do people own guns? Hunters? Protecting themselves from "bad guys"? Who knows, in any case, why do kids have access to their parent's guns? It's like keeping crack in your house and then complaining your teen is getting high.

10. And finally, no seperation between religion and politics, education

What shocked me the most about the US was to hear that the governor of Texas was going to pray for rain at the local church on the news one day. Or to find myself in a conversation about the Bible with my algebra teacher when we should have been talking about complicated equations. Even more disturbing, to have someone trying to make me go to their church when they don't even know whether I'm Christian or not (and I'm not by the way...) There is nothing wrong with having a religion and being proud of it, but there is something wrong when you are trying to push this religion upon other people when the time is not appropriate (and is it ever appropriate?)

Well this is it (for now at least), I'm sure you don't agree with all I have written. Maybe some reasons appear weak to you, maybe you can relate very well to some others, or maybe you know of other reasons to put on this page.
