The Dragon Ballad
Creature of Flight,
Here me well.
The moon is bright,
here what I tell.
You were a last resource.
When the enemy came in numbers,
Taking all by sheer force,
and killing whilst we slumber.
They are a terribly vicious people.
Murderous dogs, thieves, and scum.
The deeds they did, unspeakable.
Counting it as game, or fun.
I see this news angers thee.
Your giant body shivers.
We could do naught, but run, you see,
I see you rack, with quivers.
So spread your golden wings,
For this enemy must die.
Your ivory talons sting,
and away you must fly.
Here me, my people strong!
The dragon consents to our plea.
Gather courage, there is no wrong.
For we shall drive them to the sea!
Victory is close at hand
Though the ground stained red,
What remains of them, gone from our land.
So remember what I said,
When the ground is red,
When your people have bled,
When your Women bawl, and your soldiers fall,
Fear not, want not.
The dragon will hear your call.
