Macaws
Of all the parrot species, these are the largest and some of the most beautiful. They are usually separated into two groups; the Large Macaws and the Miniature Macaws. Despite their name, Small Macaws are not small at all, the smallest being about a foot long. But in comparison to the 3 foot long scarlet Macaw, they are small. Macaws are easily distinguished from other parrots because of the large patches of skin on their cheeks. I have read that Macaws, like people, blush. Their skin actually turns pink! These guys are great talkers and terrific pets. However, it is important that you do not buy one of these birds (or any birds, but especially these) out of the blue, becuse they live long and itrequires incredible responsibility to care for them.
