Anime Club

September, 2002

Not that I’ve checked any kind of records, but I do believe that this is the first anime club website made for the school.  I’m unsure as to whether or not the people who host the club next year would care to maintain it, for I do not even know who those people are yet.

Anime club is hosted by two seniors in the 2002-03 year and sponsored once again by the lovely Mrs. Peterson(many thanks to your continued support!).  Being that we are both seniors though, we are currently looking for a pair of people who are freshman, sophomores or juniors interested in hosting for the following year or two (or three...).  Instead of picking someone out of the basket last minute, we decided that with all the extra additions made to improve the club (DVD capability, projector instead of a small TV to read fuzzy subtitles on, free food, this website), we thought we should get some information on those interested, and after two are picked, we will train them a few things throughout the year, such as technical computer work (we edit some of our anime to make it more “school appropriate”, even though I’m greatly against censorship… you do what you gotta do), anime club is starting a budget with a for sales section, T-Shirts are an optimistic idea for the club and such, to help support the cost of foods and drinks for club meetings and anime nights outside of the school held on all breaks longer than the three day weekends.

We’re hoping that we can find two people that have

a lot of experience with anime and their artists, characters and such, and maybe even know a few things about the culture where this has all been fabricated. Someone who is technical, someone who has a creative flare, and both willing to have to make a lot of contact with teachers and spend many hours of preparation.  Ideas are still going, being that this is still rather early in the school year.

REASONS WE ARE NOT ON THE LSE WEBSITE:

·         It’s harder to update to the server

·         Everything would hafta be “school appropriate” (and with anime, sometimes that’s hard to do.)

·         The For Sale section to all members for selling and buying used anime wouldn’t be legal unless the money inherited was kept in the club budget itself and we all have the right to buy and sell used stuff as anyone else does.

This month featuring

CHOBITS

“Chii?”

Sometimes, you really don’t know what you can find in the garbage.  Hideki managed to find a persecon robot who is managing to work without the program it takes to run these computers.  Are the rumors spreading online true that artificial intelligence persocons truly exist?

Did you know this show had to be edited to be seen in school?

More on CHOBITS.
