In the book "To Ride a Silver Broomstick" New Generation Witchcraft by:  Silver Raven Wolf, let me share with you her view on the question:  Are the Gods and Goddesses Real?

"This is not an easy question to answer, and in the end, each person will have to decide for themselves the reality of their images.  Philosophically, everyone's perception of reality is an illusion.

In the Craft it is taught that thought is form.  All form is energy.  Therefore, any deity is as real as you think it is.  Let's face it, everyone knows that you can think yourself sick, and it will manifest into physical illness if you let it.

So, if you can think a negative thing into physical reality, why can't you think up a positive reality too -- like a deity, for instance?  Earlier in the  book I mentioned that we do not believe in the Christian Devil.  This is true.  But we do believe that evil exists in numerous forms.

One of the hardest concepts for individuals new to the Craft to accept is the visage of our God.  He looks an awful lot like that nasty Satan character that they have been told for years is anxious to eat their souls.  To hate this concept all your life one day and to accept a facsimile of it the next is pretty hard to swallow."

Instead of giving facts and dates, RavenWolf gave her view of The God and Goddess and made it a little more fun.  Her books are a must for your library.

So who is Morrigan to me?  Well she is my Goddess.  The one I go to for every battle I have in life.  I was going through a very hard time about 4 years ago when I was undergoing a major court battle.

Falsely accused of something I did not do.  Living in a county where justice hides and not being able to find an attorney to take my case, I was devastated.  One day I went out to our sacred space and just sat there trying to figure out what to do, who to contact for help.

Scared my children would be taken from me.  The fear was building up inside me to a dangerous level that depression was setting in.  I took a moment to ground myself and lit a white candle and I think the incense I burned was Jasmine.  I focused on letting the earth absorb all the negative energy in my body so that I could focus on the problem at hand.

Then from across the woods there was this woman walking toward me.  She was about 5'7" and had long flowing very dark brown hair with some streaks of red in them.  She was dressed in a long skirt and a baggy shirt and just looked very comfortable.

As she got closer I asked her if I can help her.  There was no response.  I got up and walked toward her and noticed she was looking around and I asked her if she was lost.  She looked at me and smiled and graciously said no.  As she got closer to me I noticed the look on her face.  She seemed to be about my age and yet many life cycles older.  Her eyes were very comforting and then she asked me why I was so worried?

I invited her to sit with me under my tree where we meditate and I remember I couldn't stop staring at her.  There was energy about her that I had never felt before.  Sitting with her she carried the radiance of my Mother I just knew, being with her everything would be ok.

Again, she asked me why I was so worried when the answers I seek were with me all along.  I didn't understand and she explained how I had this wonderful tool called a computer and several data bases along with friends to trust on the internet.  Reach out to them for they are really knights in disguise.  I understood what I had to do.  I heard my dog Max barking and excused myself to check on him and when I got back she was gone.

Confused, yet no time to figure out who this woman was or where she went.  I went back up to my house and got started.  I got on the computer and started to build my case.  I investigated the situation I was in, looked at statutes and case law.

I requesting job descriptions of everyone.  Because I was dealing with a man who would lie in the court room after the advice of a good friend on the internet who is a detective no less.  I started to tape any and all conversations with anyone involved in this matter.  I made transcripts of conversations, meetings, and so on.

With all the facts and evidence I had along with my investigation I built a web site and placed this trial on the internet and posted in every law forum I could for help.  Frustrated again I went to a friend of mine, a predominant attorney in California and asked him to look at the site and tell me what I was missing.  In joking I asked him if he would take the case knowing a.) he was a Father and could understand my fears and b.) he was cut throat.  The best, surprisingly enough after looking at the site he took the case.

To bring this story to a close, after several months we won the case.  The state's attorney filed a motion to drop all charges.  When you compare the physical evidence of my investigation and witness list to his.  His case was built on one witness and two sheets of paper the one witness being this man who lied under oath vs. over 3000 pages to my investigation and 17 on my witness list.

I left that courtroom proud and very happy.  When I got home I took a moment to go back out to the woods to meditate, to my surprise under our tree was this woman smiling at me as I approached her.  She asked me if things were going better and I was so excited I told her the whole story.  I remember the excitement as if it were yesterday, I was happy and crying and felt so free.

She stood up and started to walk away, and I asked her if she could stay a little longer.  My girls would be home soon from school and I would like them to meet her, again no response.  I then told her my name and asked her, hers.  She turned around and smiled at me told me when ever I need her she would be there, for any battle in life big or small.  My name is Morrigan.

MORRIGAN

To this day she has been with me every step of the way.

Now that we understand that The Gods and Goddesses are real, pick one as I have done.  My Goddess is Morrigan.  She is Celtic.  Another good book by:  D.J. Conway "Falcon Feather & Valkyrie Sword (Feminine Shamanism, Witchcraft & Magick) defines

The Morrigan:  [mor-ee-gan]/Morigu [moor-rig-oo]/ Morgan [moor-gan]:  Ireland, Wales, Britain.  "Great Queen"; "Specter Queen"; "Supreme War Goddess"; "Queen of Phantoms or Demons"; shape-shifter.  Reigned over the battlefield, helping with her magick, but did not join in battles.  Associated with crows and ravens.  Crone aspect of the Goddess.  In her Dark Aspect (the symobl is then the raven or crow) she is the goddess of war, fate, and death; she went fully armed and carried two spears.  The carrion crow is her favorite disguise.  With her, Fea (Hateful), Nemon (Venomous), Badb (Fury), and Macha (Battle) encouraged fighters to battle-madness.  Tradition says she has nine loosed tresses on her head, a sign of her connection with the Ninefold Goddesses of the Cauldron.  Goddess of rivers, lakes, and fresh water.  Patroness of priestesses and witches.  Revenge, night, magick, prophecy, wisdom, was, peace.
