Professor Pratorious was visiting his sister, when his young niece, Mary, showed him a list of all the American Presidents in order. As Pratorious looked at the list he mentioned to Mary that of the first five American Presidents, (George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe,) three died on July 4th. Mary looked at the list and said, "I bet that one of the three was James Monroe." Pratorious was surprised that Mary knew this. Since Mary had no knowledge of how or when James Monroe died, how could she have been so sure he was one of them?

Charlie was driving his semi under an overpass when suddenly he came to a screeching halt. Charlie wasn't paying enough attention and inadvertently drove under the overpass that was just barely as high as his truck. The semi was wedged so tightly that he could not go forward or backward. Careening Cody was riding a particularly frisky horse when suddenly its bridle came off. As they raced down the road, a screaming Cody clung to the horse's ears for dear life. Out of the corner of his eye, Cody saw a car coming, and realizing the horse was completely out of control, he panicked. Flailing his arms about, he accidently caused the horse to come to an abrupt halt. What could Cody have done to make the horse stop?
