1. Showers are limited to two entries per person, per class in the performance divisions and three models per class in the halter divisions. A team or pair of horses in the Harness class will count as one entry. *see note at bottom of page*

2. Judging Criteria: Models are judged on overall condition, conformation and breed type. In any gender class the model must be anatomically correct for that class. Rarity, collectibility or value are not part of the judging criteria except in the Collectibility division. Custom and Artist Resin models will also be judged on quality of workmanship.

3. Judges: According to NAMHSA regulations a judge may not judge their own work nor may they judge a model which has been owned by them within the past six months of the show date. Judges may elect to show their own models in divisions that they are not judging. The showholder and her family are not allowed to show at all. Some judges have given me a firm commitment at this time, they are: Open OFP: Sharon Hill, Higley, AZ, Open China Ceramic, Custom Glazed China and Mini CM: Annette Arnold, Chandler, AZ, Open Performance: Sherry Ball, Albuquerque, NM. All other judges are TBA as soon as possible.

4. Showing Procedure: You must provide a tag for your model and attach it to the back leg, all tags must be new and white. Each shower will be given a number, please write your number on the back of the tag. Please print your horse's name and breed, including any crosses on the front (facing) side of the tag. This is all the information we need. PLEASE PRINT ALL INFORMATION IN CLEAR AND LEGIBLE HANDWRITING! The importance of clear handwriting cannot be stressed enough! If a judge cannot read your writing she will call the shower to the table and the shower will be required to fill out a new tag. This can turn out to be a time consuming practice but it is necessary and will be enforced for the sake of accuracy. Please be sure to give your model a name. If you enter the horse as "unnamed" and he becomes NAN qualified it is then too late to give him a name. Please give this some thought BEFORE you come to the show!

5. Awards: Commercial flat ribbons to eighth place, custom rosettes and awards for all Division Champions and Reserve Champions.

6. NAMHSA: The Desert Wind Classic 2002 is a NAMHSA member show. All models placing 1st or 2nd in Halter or Performance classes will be eligible to compete at the North American Nationals (NAN) in 2003 or 2004. Please visit the NAMHSA web site at www.namhsa.org for more information on NAMHSA and NAN.

7. Show location: The show location is the Scottsdale Pima Inn and Suites, 7330 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ. We will have a special room rate of $65 for a room with two double beds, $73 for a one bedroom suite and $154 for a two bedroom suite which sleeps 4 or 5 people. All rooms come with a free continental breakfast. Please mention the Desert Wind Classic when making your reservation. Check out their web site at: www.zmchotels.com for more info.

8. Showholder info: Norma Archambeault, 12955 East Mercer Lane, Scottsdale, AZ 85259. Phone: 480-451-9730, email: Dan7170@aol.com.

9. Divisions will be on the day indicated but may not run in the exact order as on the classlist. More than likely some divisions will be able to be run concurrently.

** No team entries in Performance can jointly or as a group win a NAN qualification. In classes like harness where there is a multi-hitch entered, NAMHSA rules require that the owner MUST tag just ONE horse in the team. That horse alone will be named in the results and on the single NAN ticket card awarded to that entry. Same for team roping and any other performance where more than one horse is involved. The entrant must tag just ONE of the horses, all others are considered props.
