Caption Comments: I laughed my ass off. Not much else you can say. The portrait on the wall is absurd, and I dread the thought of missing it, had Selt not been quick on the draw there. If you've ever seen the cover of Bob Dylan's "Self-Portrait" album, the laugh is even bigger.
Capper Comments: Jazz said to me in an e-mail one night, "This Seltaeb guy is definitely a Captioneer in the making." I nodded along, but dammit, Jazz was right. Within a few weeks of that Selt was there every weekend blasting away the screengrabs like he was a natural. After I got up off the floor, I added him to the makeshift Captioneers roster I had on my site. I thought it was a page I wouldn't have to mess with for a while, but dammit, Selt had to go and be damned funny.

Seltaeb:
"Have you noticed my self-portrait?"

Caption Comments: For whatever reason, whenever I think of Selt this is always the caption that comes to mind. Probably because I wish I'd written it myself. He takes a screengrab that most folks would have capped as "FOCUS!" and turns it into something incredibly bizarre. Whenever I'm going about my daily business and fretting over everyday problems I stop and think for a second about all the protons in the world just cutting out early and it makes me laugh.
Capper Comments: I've always admired Seltaeb's ability to create sublimely absurd characters in his caps. Whether they're puking in raincoats, dragging a dog in a gunney sack or bouncing a tennis ball between their heads, Selt's people always wear a confident grin and have a definite sense of purpose about them. They're not normal folks who just experienced a lapse in etiquette, these are intensely silly people who have no idea that they're abnormal. That's their world and Selt kills me with it every time. He's real good at telling everyone that he's more of the batboy on the team than a major slugger, but I've always considered Selt to be a top-drawer Captioneer. And, for the record, his "MST3KKK" cap is one of the greatest of all time.

All at once, all of the protons in the world said "Aw, fuck it" and took off for the sun.

Capper Comments: Selt's been around a long while, his caps go well back into my early archives, and for good reason.
He makes me laugh.
I must confess I'm still a bit pissed that it took me almost 2 years to find out his handle was Beatles spelled backwards.

Capper Comments: He shows up right when everybody else is either leaving or thinks about leaving, and starts hammering away with the bizzare wit of his. You stay, dumbfounded. It's like you're bottlenecking an accident, scared to look but helpless not to. Quite simply, Seltaeb rules. End of story.

Capper Comments: If I was stranded on a desert island and could have only one Captioneer for company, I'd choose Seltaeb. Beside the fact that his captions impress the hell out of me everytime I'm hanging out in CT! with him, he's a fanatic about classic Rock 'n Roll music and baseball. Two areas that we have in common. 'Sides, I hear he doesn't get much exercise so I imagine he'd probably taste similar to veal. I like veal.

Selt's always a pleasure to have around. I remember late late night capping the beguiling Tarkenass with him...hell, all the infos I used to hang around for but have fallen out of favor with recently (who could forget that classic, hilarious McCorkle cap to the right?). The great times capping RetroTV...and why can't I get that Sammy Sosa in drag cap out of my mind? Spooked me a good one there.
