Laurice
Meredith Bates was born Oct. 17, 1904 at Young Hickory, New York. He was
the son of Raymond A. Bates b. May 22, 1879 d. age 71 and Irena (Gifford)
Bates b. Mar 27, 1882 and d. at age 33.
He attended a one room country school for his first 8 years in Cowanesque Pa. He graduated from Westfield High School in Westfield, PA. He died of cancer on Jan. 29, 1959 in Miami Beach Flordia. leaving a sister Ercil Bernadine (Bates) Cady b. July 23, 1907. and a wife Mary (Bost) Williams, Bates. also daughter Darcy Marie Bost. b. Oct. 3, 1937.
