MY
LIFE AT WEST POINT
SENIOR YEAR, DOGG!
What the hell happened to me?! For all the talk, I'd never have thought that this would have gone by so fast... feels like High School all over again (and for those of you who know the rules at WP, you know I'm right). Anyhoo... so what's up with my life here? Well, I went to AUSTRIA for Spring Break my Yuk (Sophomore) year. Spent the summer before Cow(Junior) year at West Point training the new cadets. Went to CANCUN for Spring Break Cow year (Holy Shinto!). Spent the summer before Firstie (Senior) year in GERMANY, training with an American ADA unit in Ansbach and a German Infantry School in Hamburg. I FINALLY got my CLASS RING a few weeks after school began this year. WOO HOO! Thanks, Mom and Dad - what a great early-graduation present! In November we had our Branch Night. That is the night where every Firstie goes into our big auditorium and finds out if they got the Army assignment that they wanted. It all goes by class rank and I wanted to become an Artillery Officer and I GOT IT! We'll find out where we'll serve our tour of duty in February and I'm hoping to head to Germany. So it looks like you're about up to date on my life here... check back in a bit, Firstie year is a wild one with lotsa stories!

WHEN I'M A FREE MAN
I
think that the ties and expertise that I would gain by being stationed
in Germany would definitely influence my life after the Army. I'd probably
move over there and live in the house that my mother owns. That would be
wonderful, because it is in the center of Western Germany, and I could
easily make my way to anywhere I wanted to go. I would probably be employed
by the U.S. government, maybe as a diplomat or something like that. I might
even link up with some American firm over there and be somehow associated
with that. It's all very uncertain, but I know that Germany is a beautiful
country where I wouldn't mind staying a while.
A GOODE MAN
I often wonder what kind of man I will be in the future. I aspire to great
things, but I believe that the most wonderful things in life are the simple
pleasures and the knowledge that you've done a job well. That is why my
choice of career isn't all that important to me. I have rather simple goals:
-- There are many things that I want to be, but
most of all I want to be a good man. It sounds simple, but it's important
to me. I think that becoming a man is all about learning to understand and respect
yourself and others. It's not hard, but it's something that many people lack.
-- Then I want to be a good husband. I know that whomever I find myself with down
the road will be good for me (I'm a staunch believer in fate), and I want to be
the same in return.
-- I want to be a good father. I think that the greatest joy will be to help my
children (probably 2 -boy and girl) grow up and do great things with their lives.
I've always dreamed of being the kind of father who is easy to talk to, always
ready to joke, and full of love.
-- I want to be happy, and make those dear to me happy. Yeah, the Z-3 would be nice,
and who wouldn't like a summer home on the beach, but I would be happy to have a
stable job that I enjoy going to every morning, a nice house, a family car, and a
family to go with it. I think that life is all about how much and in what way you
impact other peoples' lives, and I want to make as many people as happy as I can.
-- Finally, I want to make my parents proud of me. I know that they will always love
me, and are proud of whatever I do,but they've done so much to influence my life,
I just want to do the best that I can, and show them how much I appreciate all that
they've done for me.
My Most Sincere Thanks
to Representative Paul E.
Gillmor and his Staff
for allowing me the privilege to represent
the 5th District of Ohio at West Point.
These are my wonderful parents
I am forever grateful to them. They are my
inspiration
and have taught me to always do my best.
Thanks, Mom & Dad - You're my heroes!
