EATONTOWN ROLLER HOCKEY
TUESDAY NIGHT ROLLER HOCKEY
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Date: March 17, 1999
From: Anthony Natale
Re: FOG (Future of Geriatrics)
Anthony 'Ant' Natale has announced that the Geriatrics will be making the jump to the Sunday Night League starting in April 1999. 'Ant' made his decision after witnessing a game in which the Fury where walloped by the Tile Cutters. "We can take these guys" he was overheard saying as he left the rink. It is unclear whether he was referring to the Fury or the Tile Cutters.
When asked whether the Geriatrics (or 'Jerry's') would retain the Geriatric moniker for their move to Sunday Night, 'Ant' responded "What?". After the question was rephrased as "Will the team still be called 'Geriatrics' on Sunday Night?", 'Ant' was quick to point out that if the Geriatrics changed their name, then it wouldn't be the Geriatrics playing on Sunday Night.
Anthony was also quick to dismiss rumors of a possible conflict with one of the Jerry's who is currently on another roster for the Sunday night league. "He will be playing Sunday Night" 'Ant' boldly stated. What he failed to mention was what team he would be playing for.
When asked if the move to Sunday night would preclude the Geriatrics from playing in the Tuesday night league, 'Ant' responded cryptically "Not really". Upon further questioning, 'Ant' was asked if a bunch of old guys would survive doing it twice a week. "I guess it depends what your definition of 'it' is", was his very Clinton-esque response. "If 'it' stands for what I think you are trying to imply -- then no -- most of us old guys are lucky if we do 'it' twice a month -- if you're talking about hockey though -- it won't be a problem".
'Ant' also angrily denied the rumor circulating through the league that the Geriatrics have secured a sponsorship from Geritol. "We are not and will not ever be the Geritol Jerry's".
Finally, Steve Shames requested that his goal tally for Tuesday March 16, 1999 be posted. Unfortunately we are unable to do that. As noted previously, Tuesday night is a "fun league" and is not supposed to be super competitive. That is why only the wins and losses are posted and not the scores. If we were to post the number of goals that Steve scored, we would be obliged to also note the fact that the Geriatrics were outscored by at least 20 goals (yes that is 20) in their two games with the Blues. Where was your goal scoring in those games Steve?
