Traverse City is located at the southern end of Grand Traverse Bay off lake Michigan. It's a boater's paradise. Summer activities include water skiing, golf, fishing, hiking, camping, and just plain relaxing.
Old Mission Peninsula splits the southern end of Grand Traverse Bay into
East and West bays. Sitting at the north end of the peninsula is Old Mission Lighthouse which is located on the 45th Parallel, half way between the equator and the north pole.
The City of Traverse City is located in the heart of beautiful Grand Traverse County.
Front Street in downtown is lined with shops of all sorts. Traverse City was incorporated in 1891 as a village and in 1895 as a City. It encompasses 8.09 square miles and is 626 feet above sea level. The 1990 population was 15,159.
