The Fourth House |
|
|
|
 |
The Fourth House represents our private life and the infrastructure
with which we establish our life. Part of that infrastructure is the family
we belong to and the home we lived in as a child, as well as the home we
make for ourselves as adults. The zodiac sign on the 4th House cusp and planets
within the 4th house give clues as to how those things are perceived. Aquarius
on the cusp may find the home a bit bizarre or uniquely decorated. Scorpio
may perceive the home as a deep need to have or as a controlling influence.
Leo may perceive the home as fun and relaxing or a place where they can rule.
The fourth house can also show what we respond to or draw to us within the
home environment that we make for ourselves. |

Along with the home, there is the influence of the
family..specifically the parents. The Fourth House represents a parent. Now
for some it may be the mother, which traditional astrology has given the
4th house to represent; or it could be the father or even both of the parents.
Whatever the case, the sign on the cusp and planets in the house will provide
insight on how the individual views the parent(s) or the interaction they
had with the parent(s). Pisces may indicate a sloppy parent or one who was
sullen. Libra may indicate an intellectual and artistic parent. Gemini may
show a talkative parent. Jupiter in this house may show a parent who gave
them great benefits or over-indulged them; while Saturn may show a strict
disciplinarian. The attitudes that we pick from our perception of the parent
and home influence us as we grow into adults. |

Because this is our private self within this house, it
represents our inner most needs and feelings. These are things we don't readily
express early in life. However, in the later part of life we may begin to
express those needs outwardly as we become more aware of what truly is important
to us on an emotional and psychological level. This may occur as one looks
back on their life to see what they have accomplished or perhaps due to a
death in the family. Their existence and happiness/contentment becomes more
important and they begin to look within themselves to determine what it is
that they want to make their life fulfilling. |

As the First House showed how we begin projects, the 4th
House shows how we end things. It represents the end of our physical body,
the place of burial as well as fame after death. Taurus may show that endings
are done slowly while Aries on the cusp puts an end to things quickly. Libra
may end things harmoniously while Sagittarius is judicial about it. Saturn
may indicate that endings are done coldly while Mars may indicate that endings
are done in anger. As for burials, Aquarius may show the burial to be unique
while Cancer may symbolize a burial at sea or the backyard of the home. Leo
may indicate the burial will be entertaining or a place that is a vacation
spot. Whatever the case, the sign on the cusp and the planets within the
4th House will provide insight into these areas. |
