My Marki was purchased the latter part of  May 1998, MARKI17.jpg (41344 bytes) in Quebec, Canada from Johanne Briere of Briere Rottweilers.  Canada is an absolutely gorgeous country only to be outdone by the warmth and friendliness of the French Canadian people. Thank you Johanne, for such a remarkable puppy. A special thanks to Peggy Powell who was instrumental in my obtaining this wonderful boy. From the moment we brought him home at 8 weeks of age, Marki had the utmost confidence in himself, trying to assert his alpha dog role over my older mature females. Of course my rottie girls thought he was a little upstart but for the most part tried to ignore his pushy antics, and on a couple occasions tried to put him in his place. He did things like collecting all the dog toys in one big pile and laying over them. HeBRIERE1s.jpg (24431 bytes) could have ten toys but if another one of my dogs was playing with a different toy, he wouldn't rest until he managed to get that toy for himself, too. One way or another, he would get his own way with them. He was one heck of a puppy and now that he is almost 2 yrs old he is one unbelievable dog.  Marki has the most awesome disposition. He adores people and actively demands love and attention from every friendly human who crosses his path. He has a way of leaning on people in a cat-like fashion and rubbing up against them. He is absolutely  extraordinary with kids, my 2 yr old grandbaby Alex was climbing on the computer desk and fell hard on Marki's head while he was sleeping at my feet, and this wonderful dog never moved at all, but laid still till Alex was lifted off of him, then he licked the baby's face, yawned and went back to sleep. As easy going as Marki is with friends and children, he is ever the watchful protector. My daughter took him for a walk late in the evening, the walkway goes past a wooded common ground area. Marki stopped dead in his tracks and growled, softly. He backed up, pushing my daughter safely behind him, then jumped forward to the end of the leash while barking and growling loudly. My daughter heard a man yell from in the bushes," let's get out of here." We have no way of knowing the intentions of those men hiding in the shrubs but my guess is they were up to no good. My daughter said she felt no fear because Marki was in complete control of the situation. Marki  is an avid television fan and his favorite channel is Animal Planet. HeDzl80A0.jpg (127393 bytes) protects us from the bears and lions and once he actually tried to jump into the screen to give chase.  I thought my whole entertainment center was going to be in pieces, but somehow it managed to hold together. These days Marki watches his favorite programs on a leash and collar curled up next to me on the couch, although he still barks fiercely at the animals that invade our family room via the TV... He is a dog of excellent bloodline, linebred on the famous "Int.CH DOC V D TEUFELSBRUCKE SchH3/FH". Take a look at Marki's pedigree, his mother is "Can. CH. BRIERE EXCLUSIVE" of German heritage and his daddy is German Import  "CHICO VOM OBERPFALZER TOR BH" owned by the great breeder/judge Joe Hedl. Marki is the ultimate dog I have always dreamed of owning, he is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. Watch for him in the conformation, obedience and schutzhund ring, soon. Meanwhile please enjoy my Marki's photo pages..
